Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a positive thing, while others think that we should try to support each other rather than competing. I will discuss both views in the upcoming paragraphs and give my opinion at the end.
On the one hand, according to some people's prospective there should be competition at work, at school and in daily life. Competition encourages people to work harder so they are able to achieve particular goals efficiently. For example, competition in the school makes students work even more effectively to attain good grades. Furthermore, competition plays a vital role in improving skills and productivity of an individual. They learn new skills to implement in their work and get a promotion in return.
On the other hand, some people believe that coordination is more essential rather than competing with each other. In todays life it is important to do teamwork in order to grow as a society. Citizen's should assist each other so hard task can become easy for them to perform better. As a human being we should learn and grow together. Moreover, cooperation reduces stress and overall pressure and creates a supportive environment. For instance, people in workplace work together without feeling excessive pressure to outperform others.
In conclusion, according to my opinion cooperation is more beneficial than competition because individuals can grow as a society and can form better relationship. Cooperation leads to better performance of tasks with support and less waste of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation, and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as how competition helps students attain good grades and how cooperation reduces stress in the workplace. However, the development of ideas tends to be somewhat general and could be extended further with deeper explanation or more specific real-world examples to reach higher band levels. Nevertheless, all prompt requirements are successfully met throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate each main idea. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, and overall progression is maintained throughout the essay, ensuring the argument is easy to follow from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'productivity', 'coordination', and 'supportive environment'. There are some less common lexical items attempted, although minor word choice errors and unnatural phrasing occur, such as writing 'prospective' instead of 'perspective', 'todays life' instead of 'today's life', and 'Citizen's' instead of 'citizens'. Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional-like statements and relative clauses, such as 'Competition encourages people to work harder so they are able to achieve particular goals efficiently.' There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including missing apostrophes ('Citizen's'), slight preposition errors ('in workplace' instead of 'in the workplace'), and minor agreement issues. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the majority of simple sentences are accurate.
