Student answer (Band 5.0)

this is argued that some people thin that copmetition at work ,at school or even in daily life is a good thing but others believes that we should try to more helpfull and cooperate rather than competing each other.I strongly believe it dependes on the sitaution if competition in school or work then it would be beneficial for the individuals however in daily life it would be more

In one hand healthy competitions are beneficial for students because it encourages individuals to work hard . in schools, students compete for better grades ,which pushes them to study more seriosly. Similary, at eork , employees compere for promotions or bonuses, which increases productivity .For example .in many companies , the best pfroforming employee recives an award , and this competitive environment helps the compny to grow

On the other hand ,cooperation is more essential because modern life depends in teamwork .In a schools or office, people cannot succed alone ; they need to share ideas and support from each other . Cooperation bulids positive relationships , reduces stress and creates more peacfull environments . for instance ,in a school project , when students cooperate , they can achieve beter results than working ind

In my opinion ,although competition has some advantages ,cooperation should be encouradeg more .A balance is needed , but socety progresses when people help each other rather than constantly competing . Successful organization and schools today focus on teamwork rather than individual rivalry.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits of competition and cooperation while presenting a clear personal opinion. However, there are significant limitations. First, the text cuts off mid-sentence at the end of the introduction ('in daily life it would be more'), leaving an argument incomplete. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 245 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is somewhat restricted, and the task is only partially satisfied in terms of overall length and completeness, fitting the Band 5 descriptors where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, following a standard four-paragraph structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a general overall progression, attempting to use transitional phrases such as 'In one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. The phrase 'In one hand' is incorrect and should be 'On the one hand'. Additionally, referencing is unclear at times, and the abrupt ending of the essay disrupts the logical flow. Paragraphing is used, but mechanical errors in linking devices prevent it from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'productivity', 'promotions', 'bonuses', and 'teamwork'. However, there is a very high density of spelling and word-form errors throughout the text, including 'thin' instead of 'think', 'copmetition', 'helpfull', 'dependes', 'sitaution', 'seriosly', 'Similary', 'eork', 'compere', 'pfroforming', 'recives', 'compny', 'succed', 'bulids', 'peacfull', 'ind', 'encouradeg', and 'socety'. These errors sometimes strain the reader and reflect a limited control of spelling and word choice, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'when students cooperate, they can achieve beter results than working ind'. However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles, incorrect prepositions ('depends in teamwork' instead of 'on'), and punctuation errors like spaces before commas. Most notably, the incomplete sentence at the end of the first paragraph demonstrates a lack of control over sentence structure. While meaning is usually retrievable, the frequency of errors places this response at Band 5.
