Student answer (Band 5.0)
Compition in every field of life makes people more productive and also helpful for getting goals sooner as compition is the best tool to make people more productive.
Practice makes man perfect, we can compete others to get perfection in our work, sometimes, we become lazy with our daily workload, when we start to compete anyone in our workplace then we can judge our skills with that comparison in a positive way. For getting better results, we are trying to polish our skills by getting advanced knowledge this is the main thing which makes our skills much better thats why competition is a good thing.
Meanwhile, when we start to compete anyone at the workplace, people may not be able to understand our purpose of competition, they think we are just teasing them and wanting to grow faster while ingoring them, this may cause a bad relationship in an orgnisation, so we should clear that we are competing the right person, and our goal should always be to sharpen our skills to win over them.
None is perfect in this world, everyone is trying to become much better by getting extra skills in every field of life.
The competition at work, at school and in daily life can provide more chances to improve our skills, Therefore, I think, this is a very good practice that we compete others for being more valuable in all aspects.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding competition versus cooperation and provides a clear personal opinion that competition is a positive force. However, the task is only partially addressed because the discussion largely focuses on the benefits of competition, with very little exploration of the alternative view favoring cooperation. Furthermore, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 235 words against the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts task achievement. Ideas are presented such as improving skills and workplace motivation, but they remain somewhat repetitive and under-developed due to the limited length and lack of balance in addressing both sides of the prompt adequately. Overall, these limitations place the task achievement in the band 5 range.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay shows some overall organization, divided into distinct paragraphs covering an introduction, body arguments regarding competition, potential negative impacts, and a conclusion. However, progression is somewhat disjointed, and cohesive devices are frequently mechanical or repetitive, such as excessive reliance on the phrase 'when we start to compete'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly regarding pronoun use and transitions between sentences. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion lacks flexibility and natural flow. While the reader can follow the main line of thought, the mechanical linking and lack of sophisticated cohesive ties keep this criterion at a band 5.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate vocabulary range to communicate basic ideas about work and skills, such as 'productive', 'workload', and 'polish our skills'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'Compition' instead of competition, 'ingoring' instead of ignoring, and 'orgnisation' instead of organisation. The range of vocabulary is limited, and attempts at less common lexical items often result in unnatural phrasing or repetition of basic words. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of lexical errors and limited sophistication prevent the score from exceeding band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though attempts at complex structures frequently result in run-on sentences and punctuation errors, such as comma splices in sentences like 'Practice makes man perfect, we can compete others...' and '...getting advanced knowledge this is the main thing...'. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and verb patterns, such as 'compete others' instead of 'compete with others' and 'clear that we are competing' without a reflexive or object pronoun. Despite these errors, meaning is usually retrievable, which aligns with the characteristics of a band 5 performance.
