Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people think that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. Some believe that we should try to cooperate more, instead of competing with against each other. I partly agree with this view because competing with other will not make everyone to be successful. I will discuss both the views before giving my opinion.
On the one hand, competing with their co-workers, classmates or in daily life is a good thing. People will get to learn many things from their mistakes. Losing from their co-worker or from classmate will motivate them to learn from their mistakes and encourage them to improve. For example, in daily life people mostly competing with their looks to people and getting jealous.
On the other hand, others believe that we should try to cooperate more and listen to others. Cooperating with your work partner will make your bond and relation more strong, cooperate with your classmate will help you to achieve good and strong friendship, which will help you through your whole life, homework, playing in ground or participating in event.
Nevertheless, competing against each other is a good thing, it will help you to improve your mistakes, learn new thinks and can experience their friendship. But cooperating with each other helps people to make good friends, build strong relation , pushing each other on the top and helping each other in every problems.
In my opinion, every person have their own acceptance, some like to compete and some try to cooperate . Cooperating will help equally for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that competition is beneficial and the view that cooperation is preferable, while also providing a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on competition mentions that people 'get to learn many things from their mistakes,' but this point is not fully extended with precise examples, instead shifting to a vague observation about people competing with their looks. Similarly, the paragraph on cooperation touches on bonding and friendships, but lacks deeper elaboration. While a clear position is present, the arguments would benefit from greater depth and more concrete support to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different sides of the argument. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The transition phrase 'On the one hand' is used, but the corresponding 'On the other hand' appears in the third paragraph, followed by a repetitive concluding summary paragraph introduced by 'Nevertheless.' Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun shifts in sentences like 'Losing from their co-worker or from classmate will motivate them,' which disrupts the logical flow and progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic concepts about competition and cooperation. There are attempts at less common vocabulary phrases such as 'co-workers,' 'classmates,' and 'strong friendship.' However, lexical control is inconsistent, featuring noticeable word choice errors and awkward collocations like 'competing with with against each other,' 'Losing from their co-worker,' and 'every person have their own acceptance.' Spelling is generally correct, but limitations in precision and flexibility mean that the lexical range remains at a moderate level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I partly agree with this view because competing with other will not make everyone to be successful.' However, grammatical accuracy is problematic throughout the text. There are frequent errors in verb forms, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement, including 'competing with other will not make everyone to be successful,' 'people mostly competing with their looks,' 'every person have their own acceptance,' and missing articles. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur with sufficient frequency to constrain the grammatical score.
