Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some critics believe that competition at work, at school and on daily basis is a good thing, While Others argue that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. Although both perspectives have their merits, i believe that second viewpoint is gernally more beneficial for overall balancing.
Firstly, one of the main reason why we should try to cooperate more because we can learn or achieve various goal by himself, so there is nothing indispensible for competition each other. For instance, we often used to achieve our goals secretly rather than publicly, and we also insist our energy isolated. Therefore, its vital to protect and gain our goals secretly rather than competative, its neccessary for our overall development. However, if we cooperate each other, we can concentrate more effectively. It results in, we are becoming increasingly dependent on others viewpoints, how they think, and what are are really doing in theirlife, which is defineatly inappropirate for each other.
On the other hand, sometimes competition can be advantageous in several ways, beacuse we learn many behaviours and techniques by competition. Following this, we have been relyingincreasingly on competitions since childhood. Not only relying but also competiting ourself in distinct competitions with huge participations. For instance, there are lots of competition are conducted by schools, universities, and companies, from childhood to ageing population, so it becomes quit challenging to cooperate. Additionally, cooperation is the great policy for us. Although competition gives us direactions and motivation for obtaining particular reward, but cooperation can resolve many unpredictable tasks significantly.
In conclusion, Because both approaches have their merits, there is nothing substantial issue for our devlopment, but initially we should try to cooperate more.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the benefits of competition and cooperation, and the student provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is hampered by unclear phrasing and contradictory arguments, particularly in the first body paragraph where the student discusses achieving goals 'secretly' and avoiding dependency. While the position is stated, the reasoning often becomes difficult to follow and lacks extension with well-reasoned examples. Therefore, this performance aligns most closely with Band 5, as the ideas are limited, under-developed, and occasionally confusing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay is divided into appropriate paragraphs, featuring an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are attempted to structure the text. Nevertheless, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and confusing cohesive links. For example, sentences like 'Following this, we have been relying increasingly...' fail to connect logically to the preceding ideas. Furthermore, pronoun referencing is occasionally unclear. These issues place the response firmly in Band 5, characterized by some organisation and the use of cohesive devices that are often inadequate or inaccurate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student displays a limited range of vocabulary, relying heavily on basic and repetitive terms such as 'competition', 'cooperation', 'goals', and 'good thing'. There are frequent word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including phrases like 'on daily basis', 'balancing' instead of 'balance', and 'direactions'. Spelling errors such as 'gernally', 'indispensible', 'competative', 'inappropirate', 'beacuse', 'relyingincreasingly', 'competifing', and 'devlopment' are noticeable. Although the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic topic, the density of lexical errors and limited range restrict the score to Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as 'one of the main reason why we should try to cooperate more because...', 'its vital to protect and gain our goals secretly rather than competative', and uncapitalised words following punctuation marks. Punctuation misuse and run-on structures are common. While the meaning can generally be parsed with effort, the high frequency of grammatical errors means the response falls short of Band 6, meriting a Band 5 where frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader.
