Student answer (Band 5.0)

Now the world become at a stage where everyone want to compete others,to become more successful then other. Some belives that to become more successful in life there would must have a competition in life, in daily activities and in schools and on other hands other thinks it is not a good thing. You focous on your own life not on others and do your on work constantly and you become successful. It varies on different mindsets of people because everyone have his own views.

In some situations of life competition is a good thing and I also agree at this like in school life if there is competiton children work more hard and try to work well and be focoused on their goals. For example,if a child face a competative situation at his school work he become able to work hard and gain good marks in school which is a great deal for his future.

But in some situstion of life cometition is not a well and good thing like in daily life you may be not able to compete others because you may be not at this situation, may be you not have enough facilities that someone had so in situations like this you become successful only when you work hard and focused your own goals not and not try to compete others because by doing so you may become stressed and a jelleous person. For example,if someone from your hometown had a big house and a large car dont become jelleous focoused on your own goals and work hard and stay constant by doing so you also become a successful one.

From my prospects,I always says that in daily life dont compete yourself with others do your own work and become steadfast. But if question arise about competition at school,I agree with this statement that competition at school is a good thing for the future of students.

In conclluion, some stages of life demand competition to arise in life and to become successful one but in everyday life do not compete with other people because it may b against your future goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that competition is beneficial and the view that cooperation is preferable, while also providing a clear personal position. The writer distinguishes between contexts, arguing that competition is positive in schools while cooperation and personal focus are better in daily life. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack depth of extension. Examples are provided, such as a child getting good marks or someone comparing houses, but they are simplistic and underdeveloped. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing it firmly at a Band 5.0 level due to the limited development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps structure the overall argument. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by poor punctuation, a lack of spaces after commas and periods, and run-on sentences. Cohesive devices are minimal, repetitive, and sometimes misused, such as 'on other hands other thinks' and 'From my prospects,I always says'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the transitions between ideas lack smoothness and clarity. Referencing is also at times confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow seamlessly. These structural and cohesive weaknesses align with the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent use of words like 'competition', 'successful', and 'life'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'jelleous person', 'become at a stage', and 'stay constant'. Spelling errors are also present, including 'belives', 'focous', 'cometitive', 'situstion', 'jelleous', and 'conlluion'. While the meaning is usually retrievable despite these flaws, the range is limited and inadequate for higher bands, reflecting a Band 4.5 to 5.0 performance, best captured by a score of 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, characterised by missing verbs, incorrect prepositions, and severe punctuation errors. Examples include 'Now the world become at a stage where everyone want to compete others' and 'if someone from your hometown had a big house and a large car dont become jelleous focoused on your own goals'. Subject-verb agreement errors, tense inconsistencies, and missing articles are pervasive throughout the response. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty for the reader and match the descriptors for Band 4.0.
