Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 131 words, and is abruptly cut off in the second paragraph ("meanwhile the second paragrapgh is"). Because of this severe under-length issue, the task can only be addressed partially. While the student attempts to introduce the topic and state a preference for cooperation, the ideas are severely underdeveloped, and the prompt's requirement to discuss both views and give an own opinion is not fully satisfied. The arguments regarding school and daily routine are fragmented and lack clear elaboration or relevant examples, leading to a Band 4.0 level of task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. Paragraphing is faulty and incomplete, culminating in an unfinished sentence that signals a breakdown in the structure. While transition markers like "to begin with" are attempted, the overall arrangement is incoherent due to the abrupt end and disjointed flow. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Consequently, the response aligns with the descriptors for Band 4.0 in coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that frequently impede communication. Examples include "tought" for taught, "complete" for compete, "whie" for while, "eassy" for essay, "explianing" for explaining, "coorperative" for cooperative, "oscial" for social, and "uderstanding" for understanding. The range of vocabulary is severely limited and inadequate for discussing complex academic topics, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 4.0 response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying on simple sentences that are often poorly constructed and inaccurate. There are frequent errors in basic sentence formation, tense usage, and punctuation, such as "some people believe that competition at work is effective should be tought to complete" and "you going to school in daily ways so you can active more." These errors cause strain for the reader and distort meaning, placing the grammar performance firmly at Band 4.0.
