Competition in daily life can be depressing and cause destruction we should try to cooperate with each other. But sometimes competition is essencial especially at work place and at work, it helps us to stay motivated.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that competition is beneficial and the view that cooperation should be prioritised, while also stating a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the student mentions that competition motivates us at work and school, but supports this with brief points such as 'students compet with each other to get first position' without fully exploring the implications. The position is clear throughout, but the arguments could be extended further to reach a higher band. Overall, the response meets the basic requirements of the task prompt, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the writing into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used, though paragraph two is quite brief and could be integrated better. Cohesive devices such as 'For instance', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' are utilised to signal transitions between ideas, though referencing and linking are sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in 'too much of every is bad'. Progression is discernible, but logical links between sentences occasionally falter, placing it comfortably at a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'motivated', 'relaxation', and 'manipulate'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'aurged' instead of 'argued', 'essencial' instead of 'essential', 'balnaced' instead of 'balanced', and 'sucess' instead of 'success'. Despite these inaccuracies, the vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas without severely impeding the reader's understanding, which aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional clauses ('if we are good at one thing...'). However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'Other aurged that we should competition is good thing', 'every players gave thrie best', and 'too much of every is bad'. Punctuation is also erratic in places. While simple sentences are often controlled, attempts at complex structures frequently result in errors that require the reader to occasionally re-read, corresponding to a Band 5.0.
