Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people argue that competition at school, work and in daily life have positive aspects. While other people claims that we should be cooperative to each other instead of competing. In my opinion, we should cooperate to each other because it build a respect element between each other and produce great impact on performance of everyone.

Coperation plays a important role in the performance of individual either at school, work or your daily life routines we should guide and help each other. Positive commuincation with your fellows make a strong bond between each other and they happily cooperate to each other. Most individual in school or office are performed weak. instead of targeting them we need to cooperate with them to boast their confident and share its work among each other. This not only helps the individual but it also improve the environment of the department. For example, we all have experienced a person in our school or office that they are weak in study aor their work so instead of compete and feels shamed to him we should cooperate and try to work on their weak areas. it not only increase his courage but also help increase his motivation to work hard.

Competition is the natural element of human brain they want to comepete with a known person in every field but they have many negative impacts it damage the envirinment of departments and reduce the love and care for each other.

To conclude, we need to cooperate with each other to increase the performance of every individual..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the task by discussing the views on competition and cooperation, and the writer provides a clear personal opinion in favor of cooperation. The ideas presented are relevant, such as improving department environments and boosting confidence. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on helping weaker students or colleagues is stated multiple times without introducing new dimensions or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band score, the arguments regarding both competition and cooperation need to be more fully extended with specific, well-rounded examples rather than generalized statements. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are met satisfactorily, corresponding to a Band 6.0 level of task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a basic logical progression, opening with an introduction that outlines both views and states an opinion, followed by body paragraphs and a brief conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat disorganized, with a very dense second paragraph that bundles multiple ideas together, and a very short final paragraph. Cohesive devices are often repetitive or inaccurate, such as using 'to each other' multiple times ('cooperate to each other', 'bond between each other') and mechanical transitions like 'To conclude'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in the sentence 'share its work among each other'. These issues with cohesion and paragraph structure place this criterion firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas about school, work, and cooperation. However, the range is quite limited, and there are frequent lexical errors and inappropriate word choices. Examples include 'competition... have positive aspects' (subject-verb agreement/word form), 'coperation' (spelling), 'boast their confident' (incorrect collocation and form for 'boost their confidence'), 'commuincation' (spelling), and 'aor' (typo). The writer attempts less common items like 'cooperation' and 'motivation', but persistent inaccuracies in word formation and collocation constrain the score. This performance aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures alongside frequent attempts at complex sentences that contain noticeable grammatical errors. Examples of errors include run-on sentences and comma splices ('Coperation plays a important role... we should guide and help each other'), incorrect prepositions ('competing to each other'), and tense/agreement issues ('Most individual... are performed weak'). Punctuation is also weak, with missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and missing periods in places. While simple sentences are generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical and mechanical errors prevents the text from achieving a higher band. This reflects a Band 5.0 level.
