Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is believed by a few individuals that it is good thing for people to do competition to other people at their work, school and in daily life while others argue that we should try to coorperate more, rather than competing them. In this essay I will discuss why I agree to coorperate more, in depth.

On the one hand, some people believe that we should competation to others. To justify it, it is good to try competation because it can built and increase confident in people. For example, some students are lazy in studies. However, when they feel that students do competation with them they focus on their studies more confidently. Employees also do competation to their employees because they try to be better from employees on their jobs. Moreover, people do competation in their daily live, such as people want to try better from their neighbours, friends and relatives. They do work as they think their relatives cannot do or do not do before me.

On the other hand, some people believe that we should try to cooprate with others because it can be helpful in many ways. For instance, people can take help from others whenever they do something they do not know but others. In studies, students who are not good in studies they can share their problems with toppers and they find that their problems are not tricky as thet think. Also, they can understand more with their friends because their friends know that how they can understand easily.

In conclusion, although it is good thing to comperition to others. But, I think people should try to cooprate m

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on competition versus cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction in favor of cooperation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on competition mentions building confidence and gives basic examples regarding lazy students and employees, but these points lack depth. Similarly, the cooperation paragraph relies on general statements about students asking toppers for help. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence in the conclusion, which restricts the full development of the final argument. Nevertheless, the core requirements of the prompt are addressed, aligning the response with a Band 5.5 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, the two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and an abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are frequently basic, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the heavy reliance on 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance'. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, as seen in the phrase 'competing them' or ambiguous pronoun use. Paragraphing is attempted, but the incomplete concluding paragraph disrupts the structural flow, resulting in a Band 5.0 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally strain the reader. Throughout the text, the student repeatedly misspells 'competition' as 'competation' and 'cooperation' as 'coorperate' or 'cooprate'. Other awkward lexical choices include 'do competition to other people' instead of 'compete with others', and 'better from employees' instead of 'better than colleagues'. While the lexical resource is minimally adequate to convey the basic meaning of the prompt, these frequent inaccuracies and the limited range place the vocabulary performance at a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but errors in grammar and punctuation are frequent. Examples of grammatical lapses include 'it is good thing for people to do competition' (missing articles and incorrect verb collocation), 'they try to be better from employees on their jobs', and 'students who are not good in studies they can share' (redundant subject pronouns). Furthermore, the sentence structures are often formulaic and repetitive. Because frequent errors persist and the conclusion is left unfinished, the grammatical accuracy and control align best with a Band 5.0.
