Student answer (Band 5.0)
l am totally agree to this view that we should do competition at all the situation. In the schools, colleges there should be competition among the students like, speech, game etc because that enhance confidence in the students. when they will participate in every competition, they become bold, confidence.
According to my point of view there should be competition in the schools, colleges and also in the Universities. while others people think that, there should not be competition against each other, they should work together.
Similarly there should be Competition the example is that, In the School when students do Competition they will obtain higher marks to each other, because they will start work hard, struggle more than each other. Another example is that if Two students like, Ali and John will do competition all the time they will improve there skill like they will speak fluently because they participate in the speech competition and alo they will be physically superfit when they will participate in the game like, cricket, football etc.
So the Conclusion is that cooperation, not compete is also good but competition is very important for the new generation, like students, players, If they will do competition they will do there task enthusiastically and will love there task and obtain good results at the End.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing competition and briefly acknowledging the counter-argument about cooperation, while offering a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is very limited and repetitive. For instance, the writer states that competition enhances confidence and gives examples involving students like 'Ali and John' improving sports and public speaking skills, but these points are under-developed and lack extension. Furthermore, the length requirement of 250 words is not met, as the response contains only 217 words. This shortfall has a negative impact on the overall task achievement, resulting in a band score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay lacks clear paragraphing and logical progression. The text is divided into dense, poorly structured blocks where ideas jump abruptly from general statements to specific examples without smooth transitions. While basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'Similarly', 'Another example is that', and 'So the Conclusion is that', they are used in a mechanical and repetitive manner. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structural flow is disrupted by frequent shifts in focus. These organizational weaknesses place the response firmly in the band 5 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'competition', 'students', 'game', and 'task'. There are notable word choice and collocation issues, such as 'l am totally agree to this view' and 'do competition at all the situation', rather than standard expressions like 'strongly agree' or 'compete in every situation'. While the writer attempts some less common items like 'enthusiastically' and 'superfit', inaccuracies in word formation and spelling (such as 'alo' instead of 'also', 'there' instead of 'their') constrain the lexical range. This demonstrates a limited vocabulary suitable for a band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic structures. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to run-on structures and incorrect punctuation, such as commas used incorrectly between subjects and verbs or in place of conjunctions. Frequent errors in verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'others people think'), and preposition usage are present throughout the text. Although the meaning is usually retrievable, the high frequency of grammatical errors causes strain for the reader, corresponding to a band score of 5.0.
