Student answer (Band 5.5)
Competition has become a part of our daily life. some people think that competion at work, at school and in daily is very impotant while, others believe that we should stop competing and try to cooperate more. I hold the view that balancing both views is the effective approach.
On the one hand, it is necessary to compete sometimes regarding work or at school it gives the sense to think before doing. People start working hard to compete against eachother and they will think of winning against the opponent which is very effective for them to develop skills and become more creative. Moreover it allows people to do more better in the future.
On the other hand, everytime it is not beneficial for people to compete in all things being friendly with everyone allows them to share about their own life experiences and story. One people helping another person can create a special, strong and unbreakable bond between them. Furthermore, they should need help for the huge tasks which they cannot complete all alone. For instance, students working on a project can divide their work according to their strengths, which can lead to better results. In the workplace employers can share problems with other workers and woring together will help them to finish quickly and also create the friendly environment .
In conclusion, Although competing at some work may led people to do better and work harder but strinking balance is important because we social creating can't do all the things by ourselves

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation while also clearly stating the writer's personal opinion in the introduction. The ideas presented are relevant, such as competition helping people develop skills and cooperation fostering strong bonds and efficiency, supported by examples like students working on a project. However, some arguments remain under-developed and would benefit from further explanation or deeper examples. For instance, the point that competition 'gives the sense to think before doing' is vague and lacks elaboration. Additionally, there are minor awkward phrasings like 'daily life' versus 'daily'. Despite these limitations, the overall task requirements are adequately met, placing the response securely in the Band 6 territory.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct concepts. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, transition phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but internal cohesive devices within sentences can be repetitive or confusing, such as 'One people helping another person' and the abrupt shift in 'Furthermore, they should need help'. Referencing is not always clear, leading to minor tracking issues for the reader. The logical progression is somewhat hindered by run-on sentences and punctuation slips, but the overall structure remains understandable, justifying a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'unbreakable bond', 'strengths', and 'creativity'. However, there are frequent noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation. Examples include 'competion' instead of competition, 'impotant' instead of important, 'everytime' used as a single word, 'more better' (double comparative), 'sorking' (typographical error), and 'strinking' instead of striking. While these lexical errors occur throughout the text, they do not severely impede communication because the writer's core message remains discernible, aligning with the descriptors for Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and sentence boundaries. There are numerous run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'Competition has become a part of our daily life. some people think...' and 'People start working hard to compete against eachother and they will think...'. Other errors include subject-verb agreement issues and missing articles. These persistent errors often cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a limited level of control over complex structures, placing this criterion at Band 5.
