Student answer (Band 5.0)

There are numerous people who claim that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a great thing. While some believe that we outght to try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. From my opinion, I totally disagree to make such competitions at different fields of life, because a cooperated work gives a more magical result at several ranks of life.

In todays world, it has become very common for some people to compete themselves with their colleagues or co-workers. They want themselves to earn more than other, look more prettier than other, getting more fame and so on. But in the race of this contest, they lose their strenth by taking too much stress on their minds.

Conversly there is also a group of people who deny this and inspire to work together. There can be many reasons for them to think like that. They make believe in group work, socialization, helping each other and so forth.

I agree the last statement. Because in my persepective, competition may result creating rivalaries. It can make your mind exhausted because such competators take an extreme stress on their minds. It will lack your ability to socialize yourself in this modren world. On the other hand if you work together and let suppose its an educational or professional fieled, it will give a considerable increase in your knowledge. It brings people together. They can solve their problems and ambiguities more sharply.

So we can say that it is important to be together to work either it is a school work, office work, daily life work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that competition is beneficial and the view that cooperation should be prioritised, while also stating a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the writer mentions that competition causes stress and rivalries, such as wanting to 'earn more than other' or 'look more prettier than other', but these points are not fully extended or supported with rich examples. The conclusion and body paragraphs reiterate similar ideas regarding stress and knowledge acquisition without introducing deeper analysis. Consequently, the task response aligns best with Band 6, where relevant ideas are presented, but some aspects remain slightly under-developed or unclear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible structure, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, although some paragraphs are rather brief and poorly linked internally. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or awkwardly placed, such as starting a sentence with 'Conversly' or 'I agree the last statement.' Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the ambiguous transitional phrases between paragraphs. Progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt shifts in thought rather than smooth logical transitions. Therefore, the coherence and cohesion of the response fit the Band 5 to 6 range, with Band 5 being the most accurate reflection due to the repetitive and occasionally inadequate cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'ambiguities', 'socialization', and 'cooperated work'. However, there are frequent noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'outght' instead of 'ought', 'From my opinion' instead of 'In my opinion', 'look more prettier' (double comparative), and 'cooperated work' instead of 'cooperative work'. Spelling and morphological issues are also present, including 'todays' and 'modren'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and restrict the lexical score to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures such as 'On the other hand if you work together... it will give a considerable increase'. However, the frequency of grammatical errors is high, affecting both simple and complex structures. Examples include 'competition may result creating' (gerund/infinitive error), 'take an extreme stress on their minds', and 'It will lack your ability'. Punctuation is also weak, with missing apostrophes ('todays', 'lets') and run-on phrasing. Because these frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and prevent the formation of a majority of error-free sentences, the grammar score is Band 5.
