Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely believed that competition at work, school and daily life is better things and some people think that stay cooperative rather than competing against each other. I partially agree with both statements and provide relevant reason and examples.

On the one hand, competition creates more opportunities for an individuals to show their talent and ability infornt of many peoples. An individuals have to fight to get better reward, job placement and salary because there is lots of competitators in the market. For instance, competition brings numerous chance for an individuals to get selected from many peoples and desire to get fullfilled their dreams. If someone is selected for any position in the company from large groups of peoples than he can easily get better salary. Thus, competition is essential parts of life in this modern days.

On the other hand, cooperative behaviours is also essential parts of an individuals which help them to maintain good relationships with each others. If people are helping nature than they easily creates good environments in workplace, schools and in daily life. Competition brings unwanted things between the relationships of an individuals like fighting, jealousy, insecure. For example, in school cooperative behaviours creates good environments between students which helps them to share their notes and ideas about their courses. Thus, being cooperative is better for an individuals which helps them to stay calm and compose in any situations.

In conclusion, advantage of cooperative is otweigh the competition in work, school and workplace.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt in a limited way, presenting both views and a partial opinion, but falls short of the word count requirement by being one word under the 250-word minimum. The ideas are somewhat restricted and lack full development. For instance, the arguments regarding how competition brings opportunities or how cooperation builds good environments are stated simply without being fully extended. The position is discernible at the end, but the reasoning remains generalised and basic, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay presents a basic organisation with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion appropriately. There is a general overall arrangement, but the progression lacks fluency due to mechanical and repetitive use of cohesive devices, such as the frequent reliance on 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Thus'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the links between sentences can feel disjointed. While paragraphing is used sufficiently to structure the text, the cohesive devices are at times inadequate or repetitive, reflecting the characteristics of this level.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range used is limited but minimally adequate for discussing the prompt. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty or distract the reader, such as 'competitators', 'infornt', 'peoples', 'behaviours', and 'otweigh'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, like 'cooperative behaviours' and 'job placement', but these attempts are accompanied by inaccurate forms or collocations. Spelling mistakes and awkward phrasings are recurrent throughout the text, restricting the lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar, plurals, articles, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'competition... is better things', 'an individuals', 'desire to get fullfilled', and 'advantage of cooperative is otweigh'. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. While there are some correct simple structures, attempts at more complex constructions are consistently marred by persistent grammatical inaccuracies.
