Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits of competition and cooperation, and the writer provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. For instance, the arguments regarding productivity and creativity at the workplace are introduced with relevant notions, but the explanation remains somewhat superficial and repetitive, such as stating that employees 'can work hard for promotion camparing the other workers'. Similarly, the points about cooperation enhancing teamwork and reducing misunderstandings are presented but lack deeper extension with specific examples. While the position is clear throughout, some ideas are under-developed or rely on broad generalisations rather than fully articulated support, which prevents a higher evaluation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the two competing viewpoints into distinct sections. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions between ideas, using phrases like 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'To sum up'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in repetitive sentence starters and awkward transitional links such as 'Therrfore, they can enhance their understanding beacuse every people have different opinion'. Furthermore, the integration of examples lacks seamlessness, pointing toward the characteristics of a response that has achieved this level but requires more flexible and natural referencing to advance.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's ideas about competition and workplace dynamics. The student attempts less common vocabulary items such as 'proponents', 'advantageous', and 'encouragement', demonstrating some range. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'competative', 'benificial', 'flighting', 'aspacts', 'productivities', 'compunies', 'fianance', 'batter', 'Therrfore', 'beacuse', 'slove', 'cooparation', 'reduse', 'pears', and 'togather'. While these lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips do not severely impede communication, they recur frequently enough to restrict the score at this band level, reflecting a need for greater precision in word formation and spelling control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional clauses and subordinate clauses like 'although competitive pressure is advantagous because it enhances productivities'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('every people have', 'compunies can experienced'), awkward prepositional usage, and minor capitalization oversights like 'i firmly believe'. Nevertheless, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument without significant difficulty. To reach the next tier, the writer would need to demonstrate a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and finer control over grammatical patterns.
