Student answer (Band 5.0)

One of the most widely debated issues today is communication with individuals. Opinions are sharply divided on wether competition in life fields such as work or school is advantageous or attemping to assist and aid other people can be a better option. From my point of view, I firmly beleive that we have to cooperate more due to several reasons.

One compelling argument in favor of this view is bulding valid relationships with individuals. Some people agree that without competting anyone, tasks can be accomplished in a more remarkable approach. By assisting and helping our family and friends we can enjoy working and communcating with our lovely individuals at the same time. Therefore, if anything bad occured we can tell them and we all can run into the issue in order to adress it.Yet without competition, numerous people do not perform their bests.

On the other hand, those who support the opposing view argue that competing family and friend or even co-workers has a positive impact. When citizens commence fighting in order to reach sucsess, they perform the best that they can performe. Thus, that leds to acadamic sucsess. Opponents of this view often argue that this type of competition might ruin and destroy relationship with individuals. Thus, it is better not to follow that approach.

Taking everything into account, Everything related to socail skills is contrevercial. Furthermpre it does not have only one correct answer, specificly competition. Finally these topics can have sustainable development and benefit the socity as whole.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, presenting both views and a personal position, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the introduction states that communication and competition are the main issues rather than focusing clearly on the prompt, and terms like "life fields such as work or school" show a partial focus. The arguments presented, such as "bulding valid relationships with individuals," lack sufficient elaboration and clear supporting examples from knowledge or experience. The position is stated but not always clear throughout the response, as the conclusion introduces broad, generalised statements about social skills and sustainable development rather than effectively summarising the main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but it lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is somewhat erratic; for example, the second body paragraph mixes the benefits of competition with the idea that opponents argue competition ruins relationships. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, relying heavily on transitional phrases like "On the other hand" and "Thus" which do not always logically connect the sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like "that leds to acadamic sucsess" where the antecedent lacks precision.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic points about competition and cooperation. There is an attempt to use less common items, but this results in noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples include spelling errors such as "wether" for whether, "attemping" for attempting, "beleive" for believe, "bulding" for building, "sucess" for success, "acadamic" for academic, and "contrevercial" for controversial. Inappropriate collocations like "fighting in order to reach sucsess" rather than competing also hinder the precision of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a limited range of structures, with attempts at complex sentences often being faulty. Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause difficulty for the reader. There are issues with subject-verb agreement and prepositional use within grammatical patterns, such as "without competting anyone" instead of competing against anyone, and "run into the issue in order to adress it." Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present, notably with sentences running together or lacking necessary commas, and minor slip-ups in verb forms like "occured" and "leds" instead of led.
