Student answer (Band 6.0)

Competition and cooperation are both important aspects of growth. While some people believe that competition at work, at school, and in daily life is benefical, Others argue that better synergy and cooperation can be more fruitful. I believe that cooprating with each other eliminated weak areas and encourage people to work together towards a common goal and support each other.

To begin with, competitive environments can restrict the formation of teamwork necessary to pursue a common goal. Rather than encouraging and helping a fellow individual, a competitive person can shift their focus towards winning the rivalry rather than successfully completing the task. For an example, an athlete is really good at a team sport but instead of working together with the team they focus on improving their sole performace which ultimately leads to an overall bad team performance.

On the other had, Practicing ideas of cooperation at work school and in daily life will provide better results for both, in aspects of personal growth and in being a team player. Cooperation can integrate weak and strong parts of a group working together towards the same goal, by assesting each others weak areas and helping them to overcome. To cite an example, A student excels in mathematics but is weak in science while the other student is really good at science but performs poorly in mathematics. Through cooperation they can help each other be better in their weaker area.

In conclusion, Although it is still debatable whether the concept competition can be more beneifical or the ideacooperation in everyday bases. I strongly believe that cooperation offers more positive outcomes than competition by allowing to encourage each other, benefits in personal growth and make the task complettion much more easier.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation while providing a clear personal opinion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the explanation of how competition can restrict teamwork is supported by an example of an athlete, but the reasoning regarding cooperation relies on somewhat repetitive points about helping each other with weak areas. The position is clear throughout, yet extending the arguments with deeper analysis would elevate the content. Overall, the task is addressed relevantly, meeting the core requirements of discussing both views.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear organizational structure, featuring distinct introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Information and ideas are generally presented in a logical sequence, transitioning from competition to cooperation. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repetitive transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'To cite an example.' Referencing is mostly clear, though paragraphing and the flow between sentences could be managed more skilfully to achieve a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'synergy,' 'rivalry,' and 'integration.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, including 'benefical' instead of beneficial, 'cooprating' instead of cooperating, 'assesting' instead of assisting, and 'ideacooperation' instead of ideas of cooperation. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect some inaccuracy in word formation and spelling, keeping the lexical range limited to a functional level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as incorrect capitalization mid-sentence in 'at work school' and 'For an example,' as well as minor agreement issues like 'concept competition can be more beneifical or the ideacooperation in everyday bases.' Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication, and the meaning of the sentences remains clear to the reader, aligning with a moderate level of grammatical control.
