Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people argue that competition play a crucial role in workplace, school and every daily life. Other, however, believe that cooperate should be encouraged instead competition. Although competition can motivate people to perform better, I believe that cooperate is generally more beneficial because it encourages people to share ideas and achieve common goals.
On the one hand, Competition can have several positive effect on individuals. It encourages people word harder and improve their skills because they want to perform better than others. For example, who completed for higher education grades may spend time studying and become more disciplined. Similarly, Competition between employees can increase productivity and encourage workers to develop new skills.
On the other hand, cooperate can be more effective when people need to achieve a common goals. By working together, individuals can share their knowledge, support to each other and find solutions of difficult problems. For instance, in a software development team, programmers, designers and project managers need to cooperate to complete a successful project. In my view, this approach is particularly valuable because teamwork can combine different skills and reduce unnecessary conflict. Although some competition can encourage improvement, excessive competition work crate stress and make people less willing to help others.
In conclusion, while competition can motivate people to improve performance, cooperation allows individuals to share and achieve common objectives. I therefore believe that cooperate should should be given greater importance, generally healthy competition can still be useful.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the views on competition and cooperation while presenting a clear personal opinion. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack extension. For instance, the discussion on school and daily life remains somewhat general and could have been supported with more detailed explanation or examples. Furthermore, it is important to note a specific issue regarding length: the response contains 241 words, which fails to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words. To reach a higher level, the ideas must be more fully extended and supported, and the essay must satisfy the required word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, the two body paragraphs discussing each view, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the arguments. However, cohesion is sometimes slightly mechanical, and referencing is not always completely clear. To move towards a higher band, the essay needs to use a wider range of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that transitions between sentences are entirely natural and unobtrusive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempts less common items such as 'productivity', 'unnecessary conflict', and 'objectives'. However, there are noticeable word-form and word-choice errors that stem from using incorrect parts of speech, such as writing 'play' instead of 'plays', 'cooperate' instead of 'cooperation', and 'work crate stress' instead of 'create stress'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect a limitation in lexical control. To improve this criterion, the student must pay closer attention to word forms and collocations to ensure precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination through structures like 'Although competition can motivate...' and 'By working together...'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('competition play'), missing articles ('in workplace'), and awkward prepositional phrases ('solutions of difficult problems'). Fortunately, these errors rarely impede communication and represent a mix of error-free structures alongside faulty complex sentences. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate better control over complex grammatical patterns.
