Student answer (Band 5.0)
There is an ongoing debate about competition in the life of humans. There is a group of people who argue each other. Some people argue that, rivalry at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing, while other argue that cooperate with each other, rather than competing against each other. In this essay we discuss both perspectives and present our own opinion.
One particularly significant factor is that competition at work or school or in daily life is a good thing, when people have challenges in their lifes, and compete with other people, they stay motivated and want to defeat their rivals. For example, In school, there are alot of students who compete with each other and want to be first in their class, that kind of competition is good for every student. moreover, In daily life there there are also thing, people have to compete in their office to get higher post and earn alot of money from the other people.
Another important consideration is that, people have also stay soft hearted and give chances to another people. For instance, If you are on bike and someone want to race with you, because of danger you have to step back.
In conclusion, although both sides of the argument have some merit, I strongly believe that competition is good thing because nowadays people have to compete with each other, if they want to be successful in their lifes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response addresses the prompt partially, discussing both the benefits of competition and cooperation, and attempts to present a position. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on overly simplistic examples such as racing a bike. Furthermore, the response falls short of the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 241 words, which impacts the overall completeness of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used rather repetitively and mechanically, such as starting multiple sentences with 'One particularly significant factor is that' or 'Another important consideration is that'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow between sentences often feels disconnected.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common phrases like 'ongoing debate' and 'significant factor', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, form, and collocation, such as 'cooperate with each other' used as a noun phrase, 'lifes' instead of 'lives', and 'higher post'. These lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic clauses. Attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, featuring frequent grammatical errors including run-on sentences, subject-verb agreement issues ('people have also stay'), and awkward prepositional phrases. Punctuation errors are also present, and frequent mistakes require the reader to occasionally pause to decipher the meaning.
