Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that competition at work at school and in daily life is beneficial thing, While other argue that we should try to coperate and do work in team.Competition give us more encourage and teamwork help us to achieve long term goals.

On the one hand, Competition have several positive impacts because it give us motivation in which a result we work hard for achiving our goals and doing work for further sucess. And it give us a motivation and self confident which a result we soutout every hard problem. For example, competition between two students in class can result to get high score, on the other hand competition between two companies can result to make high verity products and also give discount to wide range.

On the other hand,Team work can also help us to achieve our future goals in a team work and success eachother in a community. It also help yo solve a problem easily because if a group of knowledge combines it solve a probleb fast and save time,While doing competition regularly can also cause stress and anxity. And employs from different departments can share their knowledge skills and ideas to work ,Which can help to solve problems affectively.

In my opinion competition are more benificial because it motivate us and build self confedence and give opportunity to develop our skills and chance to do something by own,For example if we are doing competition in a runing with anyone sofor taht we do alot of practice and physical exersice to impprove stemna and prepare our body for that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both competition and cooperation, and the writer provides their own opinion in the conclusion. However, the task is only partially addressed due to under-developed ideas and limited explanations. For instance, the example of competition between companies leading to 'high verity products' lacks depth and clear elaboration. Furthermore, the response is slightly below the required length, containing 248 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement. (Note that 11 words copied directly from the task prompt were not counted). To reach higher bands, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the task with extended explanations and relevant, detailed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident in the essay, with paragraphs used to separate different viewpoints and the writer's opinion. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently repetitive or inaccurate, such as the excessive and mechanical repetition of 'On the other hand' to introduce new points, including the final body paragraph. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smoothness and clarity, making the overall structure feel disjointed. To improve, the writer should employ a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices and ensure that ideas flow logically from one sentence to the next without abrupt transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent spelling and word form errors throughout the text, such as 'coperate' instead of cooperate, 'achiving' instead of achieving, 'verity' instead of variety, 'anxity' instead of anxiety, 'employs' instead of employees, 'affectively' instead of effectively, and 'confedence' instead of confidence. Word choice is also basic and repetitive, showing restricted control over less common lexical items. To achieve a higher band score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to correct word formation, and ensure accurate spelling for both common and academic terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on basic patterns. Attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, leading to frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'Competition have several positive impacts' and 'competition are more benificial', as well as missing articles and incorrect prepositions, as seen in 'result to get high score' and 'in a runing with anyone sofor taht'. Punctuation is also problematic, with missing full stops and improper comma splices. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence structures and improve grammatical accuracy across verb tenses, agreements, and punctuation.
