Student answer (Band 5.0)
In modern society, competition is present in almost every aspect of life, including education, employment and personal achievement. While some people argue that competition encourages individuals to work harder and achieve their goals, others believe that cooperation is more beneficial for society. In this essay I am going to discuss both views and also want to give my own opinion.
On one hand, some people believe that competition in daily life is a good thing. They believe that if students who are studing in school have competition with other students then they will progress more they work hard and make amitious to get their goals . And also competition in daily life and in work is also very important because as we know that this is the era of technology and in works there are different kinds of styles was introduced . If we talk about work in factory of steel so there also competition matters because if other factory make very good steel then your's then your percentage of work is going to be low so you have also competition in work also to get your goals.
On second hand, some people believe that we should have to cooperate more , rather than competing against each other. They said this because as we know that when we have acompetition with other student like in a school then one must have to win. So we saw many cases like when a student lose in competition then he or she commit to suicide . For example, In China many cases are filed of students who commit to suicide so they give this opinion according to this point of view.
In my opinion, I think that competiton in life is very necessary to get goals and the get success in life because as we know that in the era we have to compete many thigns to get success and instead of competing things we are cooperating with them so in this way we cannot get success in life and we remain backword in life.
I want to give an example of China where students have competitons with each other and we saw the positive impacts of this competiton on China. On the other hand In some other countries like India they cooperate with each other and dont have any competiton so they remain backword in life and do not get success in life.
In a nutshell, It is very important for us to have competition in every aspects of life to get success in life While if we dont have any competiton and we only cooperate with others then we dont get success in life and do not achieve our goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task partially, discussing both competition and cooperation and offering an opinion, which satisfies the basic prompt requirements (9 words copied from the task prompt were not counted). However, the position is not always clearly sustained throughout, and the ideas presented are limited and frequently under-developed. For instance, the discussion regarding factory steel production or the extreme claims about student suicide in China are introduced without sufficient elaboration or sound logical support. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully extended and well-supported ideas that logically address all parts of the prompt with greater depth and clarity.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation in the essay, with paragraphs used to separate introduction, body points, and conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of thought. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or mechanical, featuring repetitive transitions like "On one hand", "On second hand", and "In my opinion" to force structure rather than achieve natural flow. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use when discussing cooperation. To improve coherence and cohesion, the writer should ensure logical sequencing between paragraphs, use a wider and more accurate variety of cohesive links, and maintain a smoother, more progressive line of argument throughout the essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common words, but noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word formation occur throughout the text, such as "ambitious" instead of ambitions, "studing", "backword", and "competiton". These lexical inaccuracies and misspellings occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of appropriate word forms. To progress to a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, pay closer attention to correct spelling and word forms, and use less common lexical items with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer demonstrates a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on repetitive basic clauses. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, containing frequent errors in verb forms, articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include clauses like "if students who are studing in school have competition with other students then they will progress more they work hard" and run-on structures without proper punctuation or conjunctions. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with good control, reducing the density of grammatical errors.
