Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued by some individuals that competition at job, academic institution and in everday life is a beneficial thing while others opine that people should cooperate each other rather than competing. As far as i concerned, i am in favour of former notion which will be explained in upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with the former view, the predominant reason which support this notion is competition develop physical and mental ability. To elaborate it, at present era, over population is at peak so there are huge shortage of jobs because candidates are more as compared to vaccancies. Thus employers recommend creamy layers candidate who compete in every aspect by physical and mental skills . For example, a survey conducted my labour ministry reveals that the candidates who faced competition at every field survived in this harsh world. As a result, this competition trained people for any obstacle that they might face in real world.
Sifting towards latter notion, the main point supporting this notion is cooperation develop feelings of fulfillment. To explain it, human being is a social creature it can not survive without cooperation of their peers, who guide them in every situation and gives a life long lesson to help others. For instance, if people help other rather than competing in their life , they become fully satisfied with what the have in their life. Thus, with the cooperative environment people can overcome anger and generates positive felling towards others and make the world better place to live.
In conclusion, although i belive that competition develop skills in people to achive their goals in present era yet, with the help of cooperative society people become good human being .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on competition versus cooperation and clearly states the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. While the first body paragraph attempts to support competition using an employment example, the reasoning is somewhat general. Similarly, the second body paragraph discusses the benefits of cooperation but relies on somewhat repetitive points about feeling fulfilled rather than exploring deeper social or economic impacts. To move to a higher band, the response would need to extend and support all main ideas with more specific, well-developed examples and a more nuanced exploration of the prompt's themes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the essay into distinct introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main views. However, cohesion at times feels mechanical or is hindered by referencing issues, such as the awkward transition phrases like 'Sifting towards latter notion' and minor mechanical links. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but transitional devices are not always used with complete flexibility. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to ensure that cohesive devices connect ideas more naturally and that referencing throughout the text is consistently smooth and unobtrusive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the basic message about competition and cooperation. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'creamy layers' and 'predominant', but these attempts are accompanied by notable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. Additionally, there are several lexical and word-form errors, such as 'at job', 'everday life', 'cooperate each other', and 'positive felling', which highlight a limited control over lexical features. While communication is not severely impeded, these errors and the reliance on basic or imprecise vocabulary prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Developing greater precision and avoiding word-form errors will be key to improvement.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that the writer can attempt various structures, such as conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including issues with articles ('at job', 'in everday life', 'better place'), subject-verb agreement ('human being is a social creature it can not survive'), and prepositions. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they occur consistently enough to prevent the writing from achieving a higher level of grammatical control. To progress, the writer must focus on reducing basic structural errors, improving punctuation, and ensuring greater accuracy when forming complex sentences.
