Student answer (Band 5.5)

Competition and cooperation are both importnat part in the modern life. some people believe that competition encourage the people to work hard in their life while others believe that we should have to try or learn cooperation rather than competing againts each other. In my opinion, competition is beneficial but cooperation is more important for achieving long-term success. In this essay we will discuss both views in upcoming paragraphs.

On the one hand, there are several reasons why people believe that competition is important. Primary, competition can motivate the people to work hard and improve their skills. At schools, for example, a studnet may study more seriously when they want to achieve higher marks than their classmates. Similarly, competiton in the workplace can encourage employees to become more productive and develop new skills and ideas. Therefore, healthly competition can push individuals and organisations to reach their full potential.

On the other hand, cooperative have a several important benefits. when the people works together they can share their skills, ideas and knowledge to achieve a common goals. For instance, employees who cooperate with their colleagues can solve difficult problems. In schools, group projects can build strong bond between students and can teach the important skills like communication, team work and respect toward each others. Therefore, competition can create stress and jealously, whereas cooperation can build a stronger realtionships.

In my opinion, a balance between competition and coperation can build a strong ideal.

In conclusion, competion can encourage improvement and achievement, while coooperation promotes teamwork, stronger realtionships. I believe that both are valuable, but cooperation should be given greater importnace in our daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both competition and cooperation and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, which keeps the score at this level. While the essay introduces relevant points such as academic motivation and problem-solving through teamwork, the elaboration remains basic. For instance, the discussion on how competition drives productivity at work is stated rather than fully extended with a concrete example. The position is evident throughout the essay, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required to reach a higher tier.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some logical organisation with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each view, and a conclusion. However, there is no consistent overall progression, and the arrangement feels mechanical at times. Cohesive devices are used, but some are inaccurate or awkward, such as 'Primary,' instead of 'Primarily,' and 'On the other hand, cooperative have a several important benefits.' Referencing and transitions between sentences can be repetitive, with several sentences beginning in a similar pattern, leading to an overall structure that lacks seamless flow and flexibility.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to communicate the main ideas. There are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling throughout the text, such as 'importnat', 'againts', 'studnet', 'competiton', 'healthly', and 'realtionships'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'potential', 'productivity', and 'common goals', but these are accompanied by lexical slips that reflect a restricted control of word forms and collocations. While meaning is generally conveyed, the frequency of spelling and morphological mistakes prevents the lexical score from advancing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few basic complex forms. Attempts at complex structures are frequently marred by errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('cooperative have a several', 'competiton can create') and article misuse ('a student may study', 'the people works'). There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing commas and incorrect verb forms ('when the people works'), which cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted command of sentence patterns.
