Student answer (Band 5.0)
Some peoples think that competition at work or school and in daily life is a good habit, while others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competiting against each other. In my opinion, i stongly agree because competition in all things play a positive role many individual do our best to tell how they great are in our work.
On the onehand, nowadays every persons think about that they have to be first in all our the academic terms and work as well. For example, competition can motivate people to work harder and improve their performances like the way in our classrooms every student want to earn first position in their final results. They do alot of hardworking to lock this position and every individual students do our best and there is a competition in between them. Similarly, competition in the workplace can motivates employe to develop their skills meets targets and seek promotion. In a daily life, competitive environments paly a very importan role in our life like everyone do smartworking to promote ourself in a good position. They set our goals and ambitious they have to be in that position they do every posibilty of hard work to earn what they want.
On the another hand, excessive competion can create stress and damage relationship because everyone focus to 1st and they didnt knew about our relationship, frienship in between competition. For instance, there is good bound of budding zone in our classmates but in our finals they didnt care anout anything they focus our work and want to be first in our class. Therefore, a empolyees are very cooperative in our offices they help each other but in the competitive zone they do not care anybody and our relationships and they want to promote ouself in a good position.
In conclusion, competition can encourage individuals to improve themselves and achieve ambitious goals, but in excessive competition paly a very negative role they damage our relationships. I believe people should mantain healthy level of competition that they bound our relations in a positivity way.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits of competition and the reasons for valuing cooperation, and it presents a clear personal opinion. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For instance, the prompt asks to discuss both views and give an opinion, but the development relies heavily on repetitive examples regarding classroom rankings and office promotions without exploring deeper societal or psychological implications. The student's position is stated, but the support for it lacks extension. Note that 19 words copied directly from the task prompt were not counted towards the minimum length requirement. To reach the next level, the writer must expand on their arguments with more thoroughly explained examples rather than merely listing repetitive points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is a basic logical organisation to the essay, dividing the response into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion, and paragraphs are used. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression because ideas within paragraphs jump abruptly without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as the repetitive use of transition phrases like 'On the onehand', 'On the another hand', and 'In conclusion', which feel mechanical rather than naturally integrated. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun usage like 'they' and 'our' which confuses the reader regarding who is being referred to. To improve, the writer needs to employ a wider variety of cohesive ties more flexibly and ensure logical links between sentences are seamless.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The lexical resource displayed is limited, though minimally adequate for the task. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'ambitious' and 'cooperative', but these attempts are frequently accompanied by noticeable errors in word form, choice, and spelling, such as 'competiting', 'employe', 'smartworking', 'posibilty', and 'mantain'. Word choice is sometimes imprecise or unnatural, such as 'good bound of budding zone'. These lexical errors and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication at times. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to correct word forms and spellings, and use lexical items with greater precision and stylistic awareness.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical structures used are relatively basic, showing a limited range of sentence types. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are often faulty, featuring frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples of structural and agreement errors include 'Some peoples think', 'competition... play', 'every persons think', 'everyone focus to 1st', and 'competition paly a very negative role'. These frequent grammatical errors occur across simple and complex structures and can cause noticeable difficulty for the reader to follow the intended meaning. To progress, the student needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammatical patterns, improve subject-verb agreement, ensure accurate tense usage, and reduce the frequency of structural errors.
