Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people believe that revilary at worksite, school and everyday life is a positive impact, while others think that it is vital to cooperate, intead of competiting against each other. I believe that competition is more crucial than cooperation.

On the one hand, those who support the cooperation rather than competition believe this because of achieving goals faster. This view is supported by the fact that when work is done mutually towards a common goal, it facilitates in achieving the sutle objectivities in shorter period and it also reduce stress od

On the other hand, I believe the supporters of cooperation give the major reason of better performance in its favor which means when there is a competition among students, they make more efforts and perform beyond their potential, which positively impact their life. Another reason given by them is improving productivity. To illustrate, workers must work hard to face cut-thorat competition to get apperasion because most of the organisations make jugdement mainly on performance of the workers. Therefore, it enhances the efficiencey of the organisation.

In conclusion, even though some people support the notion of cooperation, I believe that competition in life is important because of better performance and enhancing productivity reasons.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially, and important length requirements are not met as the text falls significantly short of the minimum word count of 250 words, stopping at only 203 words. Furthermore, the final body paragraph appears to confuse the viewpoints, stating 'I believe the supporters of cooperation give the major reason of better performance in its favor' while immediately discussing the benefits of competition. Ideas are limited and under-developed, and the conclusion is abrupt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure the word count requirement is fully met, clearly distinguish between the two opposing views without mixing them up, and extend the supporting arguments with more detailed examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation present, with basic paragraphing and transitional markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', but there is no clear overall progression of ideas throughout the text. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the sudden shift in the second body paragraph where the arguments for cooperation and competition become muddled. Paragraphing is used to separate the different sections of the essay, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow. To improve cohesion, the writer should use a wider variety of accurate cohesive ties, ensure that each paragraph focuses strictly on one clearly defined argument, and maintain a consistent logical path from introduction to conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the response that cause some difficulty for the reader, such as 'revilary' instead of rivalry, 'worksite' instead of workplaces, 'intead' instead of instead, 'competiting' instead of competing, 'sutle objectivities' instead of subtle objectives, 'cut-thorat' instead of cut-throat, 'apperasion' instead of appreciation, 'jugdement' instead of judgement, and 'efficiencey' instead of efficiency. These frequent errors restrict the lexical score. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, eliminate basic spelling mistakes, and use appropriate collocations consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing displays a limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar, articles, prepositions, and plurals that can cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'at worksite, school and everyday life' (missing articles and incorrect preposition use), 'it facilitates in achieving' (unnecessary preposition), 'reduce stress od' (incomplete sentence), and 'on performance of the workers' (missing article). The majority of sentences contain noticeable slips in grammatical patterns. To improve, the writer needs to practice forming accurate complex sentence structures, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage, and carefully proofread the text to correct basic grammatical errors.
