Student answer (Band 4.0)

This essay states that few people have a point of view that battling at work, school and in daily life is a excellent gesture but on the other hand few peoples believes that we should be more cooperative with each other.

According to me we should be cooperative with each other beacuse when we become a helping person we also get reward in the end. Through cooperation we get more benefits in life. like when we help someone in their life they are also help ourselves. for example my husband cooprate with me during my daily works so i appreciate himself in public and i also give him hepl back in very aspect of life that is most important

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response sits at this band because it only partially addresses the prompt and falls significantly short of the required word count, containing only 119 words rather than the minimum 250 words. While the writer attempts to introduce the two opposing views regarding competition and cooperation, the discussion remains extremely limited and under-developed. The position is stated simply at the beginning, but the ideas lack adequate extension or supporting evidence. For instance, the personal example involving the writer's husband is too brief and anecdotal to properly explore the complexities of cooperation versus competition in daily life, work, or school. To improve, the writer needs to expand the response significantly, address all parts of the prompt in greater depth, and provide well-reasoned arguments with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

Cohesion and logical progression are hindered by the lack of proper paragraphing and basic organizational structure. The entire response is clustered into just two long blocks of text, lacking a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. While basic cohesive devices are attempted, such as 'According to me' and 'for example', referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the confusing transition 'like when we help someone in their life they are also help ourselves.' The overall arrangement shows some basic organization of ideas around the topic of cooperation, but it lacks clear overall progression. To reach the next band, the writer must structure the essay into distinct paragraphs, use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive devices to link ideas smoothly, and ensure logical connections between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, reflecting a limited range appropriate for this level. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'cooperative', 'gesture', and 'aspect', but these are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice and word formation, such as 'battling' instead of competing, and 'peoples' instead of people. Additionally, phrasing like 'hepl back' demonstrates spelling and form inaccuracies. Although communication of the core message is generally maintained despite these flaws, the lack of precise lexical control restricts the score. To progress further, the writer should expand their vocabulary range, learn correct collocations associated with academic topics like competition and cooperation, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent errors. Attempts at complex sentences, such as 'beacuse when we become a helping person we also get reward in the end', contain structural flaws, missing articles, and agreement issues. Frequent errors are present throughout the text, including punctuation omissions (such as missing capitalization and periods), incorrect verb forms like 'they are also help', and awkward prepositional usage ('in very aspect'). While some basic sentences are formed, the high frequency of grammatical mistakes can cause occasional difficulty for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to practice constructing accurate complex sentences, monitor subject-verb agreement, improve punctuation control, and eliminate basic grammatical slips.
