Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, some people have concepts regarding competing with each other at work, school and in daily life that it is a good thing while other are opposing this and think that we should have to spport each other rather than doing competition. This essay will discuss both the views before explaining my personal view.
On the one hand, competition in such activities is beneficial for everyone because if competing with some will make people doing hardworks and they will be consistent in their desired goals. Because if someone will see their friends or relatives getting successful at some stage of there life, other will also trying to chase him and go further ahead from him. It will assist people acheiving their aims. For instance, when my cousin went to Germany in 2024, now he is well settled there, thats how after him i wake up and make myself a distination that i will achieve it and will go more ahead from him.
On the other hand, others are thinking that we should have to support each other in every step of life, this is definitely a great way because when we will ingnoring each other and will not helping so it can affect us in shape of taking wrong steps and decisions in important times. In addition, we should giving some important advices to each other to take perfect and best steps in a significant phase of life. For example, i have two friends and they are jealosing from each other, one of them were doing his visa process to UK and at some step he went wrong and didn't asked for help because he did'nt want us to know about it and his visa got refused.
In conclusion, in my personal view, both are good but i will go with the second view, i think we should have to work hard don't need to compete with each other. Cooporating and supporting everyone one will give every single person a great success and everyone's life will be bright and easy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on competition and cooperation, and clearly presents a personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is uneven. While the first body paragraph attempts to explain the benefits of competition, the explanation relies heavily on a personal anecdote rather than fully developed conceptual arguments. Similarly, the discussion on cooperation outlines why people should support each other, but the supporting example about a friend's visa refusal is somewhat anecdotal and lacks broader analytical depth. To move to a higher band, the writer would need to extend and support all ideas with more fully rounded arguments that go beyond simple personal narratives.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the conclusion appropriately. Cohesive devices are used to signal the progression of ideas, such as "On the one hand", "On the other hand", and "In conclusion". However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes mechanical or faulty. For instance, transitional phrases like "Because if someone will see..." create awkward logical links between sentences, and referencing pronouns like "it" and "them" can occasionally be unclear. The half-band achievement reflects a clear overall organisation and logical progression that meets the requirements of the lower band well, while showing some of the structured flow expected at higher levels, though more seamless transitions are still missing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing sufficient range to communicate basic ideas about competition and cooperation. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "consistent", "distination", and "cooporating", but this is accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling. Examples include "spport" instead of support, "ingnoring" instead of ignoring, and "jealosing" instead of jealous. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling slips occur throughout the text and cause some difficulty for the reader, which places this response firmly at the lower band level. To improve, the writer needs to expand their control of word forms and collocations while reducing spelling errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student displays a limited range of grammatical structures, attempting complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these issues include "we should have to spport each other", "if competing with some will make people doing hardworks", and "i wake up and make myself a distination that i will achieve it". Frequent errors in sentence construction and tense consistency require the reader to slow down at times to grasp the meaning. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate greater control over complex sentence forms and produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences.
