Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task, discussing both competition and cooperation and presenting a clear position in the conclusion. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed. For example, while the writer mentions that competition 'supports an individual to think more sharply', this point is not fully extended with specific examples or clear elaboration. Similarly, the discussion of cooperation touches on communication and mutual understanding, but these concepts lack depth. The position is stated at the end, but the reasoning throughout the body paragraphs is occasionally repetitive and generalized, reflecting a partial development of the prompt's core themes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some basic organization with a clear four-paragraph structure representing an introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression between the ideas, making the logical flow feel disjointed at times. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently repetitive or mechanical, such as the heavy reliance on transitional phrases like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when pronouns like 'it' are used ambiguously without a clear antecedent, which affects the overall readability and cohesion of the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'oppions' for opinions, 'competion' for competition, 'cooprtation' for cooperation, 'eachother' for each other, 'guidence' for guidance, 'confidents' for confidence, 'pysically' for physically, 'energry' for energy, 'enviroment' for environment, and 'cooperate' instead of cooperation. Word choice and word formation are also imprecise at times, such as 'several livings' instead of 'some individuals', which restricts the lexical range and highlights recurring inaccuracies.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, pluralisation, articles, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples include 'Several people have their oppions', 'At works, school and in daily life', 'Participating in a work or in a different activities', and 'is believe to be cooperative'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally pause and can cause some difficulty in fully grasping the intended meaning of specific clauses.
