Student answer (Band 5.5)

Competition against other people make you a competative, and harworking. Some people argued that competition at office, institution, and in the life is a healthy thing, while others oppose this, they think we should help each other and there shiouldn't be any competition between individual. In my opinion, competition against people make you more successful and hardworking individual in your life.

One of the main reason to compete with others, make you a harworking person. When you try to set the goals in your life you can only achieve it through hardworking, and competition give you the motive in life that you have to get done it. Furthermore, when you give yourself goals after achieving these you will get successful in future. Mostly people if they don't compete with others always stays in their comfortzone mostly did not achieve anything in their life.

On the other hand, some people think that competition is not a good thing. This is because they believe every individual should have help each other and grow together with each other rather than make a wish that other person should fall so the other can rise. Moreover, already there is so much hate in the world, they dom't want that by competing with each other it could have change to hatred. For example, if we talk about sporting events many atheletes hates their collegue becuase they somehow are talented than with them.

In conclusion, competition is important for your personal growth but some people believe we should be more helpful to others than to compete with each others. In my opinion competion is very necessery for people to grow in their life and especially in career you don't have to hate other to successed in llife just compete.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear preference for competition, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The points about competition encouraging people to work towards goals and cooperation preventing hostility are relevant to the question. However, the arguments are not developed evenly: the benefits of competition are repeated in terms of hard work and success, while the cooperation side is explained mainly through a general concern about hatred. The sports example is relevant, but its link to cooperation and the wider argument could be clearer. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how cooperation benefits people at work or school, and support each main point with a developed example or consequence. Your position would also be more convincing if you acknowledged when cooperation may be preferable to competition.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from the case for competition to the opposing view is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help the reader. Within paragraphs, however, ideas sometimes run together or repeat rather than building in a clear sequence. For example, the first body paragraph moves from goals to success and then to people staying in their comfort zone without fully explaining the links. Some references are also unclear, as in “talented than with them.” Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then connect explanation and example explicitly; vary linking expressions and make pronoun references precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “goals,” “personal growth,” and “career,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “comfort zone” and “sporting events.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural: “make you a competitive” does not express the intended idea accurately, “get done it” is awkward, and “atheletes,” “collegue,” and “competion” are misspelled. Repetition of “successful,” “hardworking,” and “competition” also limits precision. Build a bank of accurate topic collocations, such as “strive to achieve goals” and “work collaboratively,” and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “while others oppose this” and a reason introduced by “This is because.” The overall meaning can usually be followed, but errors in agreement, sentence construction, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “Competition against other people make you” needs a singular verb, while “One of the main reason … make you” has problems with both the plural noun and the sentence structure. The sentence beginning “when you try to set the goals” also shifts between “you” and “it,” making the reference unclear. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and verb forms. More accurate control of these structures would make your ideas easier to read.
