Student answer (Band 4.5)

some people things that competition at work, at school and i daily life is good thing. other believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. I firmly believe that people should have competition among them.

People should have competition among them in their daily lives that keep them motivated among their tasks and trying to achieve their goals. this will help them to stay active and gives them motivation that they can do more. when their is competition among peoples then their do their work tasks more effort. they have certain goals which they are trying to achieve. competition helps them to keep focus in particular task. competition among peoples helps them to find their merits and demerits.

On the other hand, others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing each other. This helps peoples to do tasks in group which takes less efforts and time and peoples understand things easily. It builds good connections with our partners. It also helps someone when difficult sitution comes yours teammates helps you.

In my perspective, their must be competition among peoples which helps them to find their abilities if someone is not focus in his work. their should be competition among then after a while ,rather than they should focus on team work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both views: competition is linked to motivation and goal-setting, while cooperation is associated with completing tasks efficiently and supporting teammates. Your position in favour of competition is stated, but the final qualification that people should later focus on teamwork is unclear and not explained. Most points remain general; for example, you say competition helps people identify their “merits and demerits” without giving a specific example or showing how this happens. The response also does not meet the 250-word minimum: it contains 195 words, and the 26 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each view with a concrete example and explain your balanced position more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about competition, a paragraph about cooperation, and a concluding opinion. “On the other hand” helps signal the shift between the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is limited because several points are listed without clear explanation or links; the competition paragraph, for instance, moves from motivation to focus and then to personal strengths. Some references are difficult to follow, particularly “their” and “then” in the conclusion, so the relationship between competition and teamwork is unclear. Use clearer topic sentences, connect each supporting point to the main idea, and make pronoun references precise to improve the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “motivated,” “goals,” and “team work,” so the main ideas can generally be understood. However, the same key words recur frequently, and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “competition among peoples,” “takes less efforts,” and “difficult sitution comes.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less clear and show limited control of collocation and word forms. Build a wider set of topic-related expressions and check whether nouns are countable and whether phrases sound natural. For example, you could describe people as working “more efficiently” or receiving “support from teammates.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple structures, and you attempt some longer clauses, such as “when there is competition among peoples then their do their work tasks more effort.” However, errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “competition … keep them motivated,” the incomplete construction “when difficult situation comes yours teammates helps you,” and unclear pronoun use in “their must be competition.” Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistently controlled. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using clauses such as “because” or “which.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb and that verbs agree with their subjects.
