Student answer (Band 6.0)
Competition at school and work is regarded as a positive thing by many individuals, while some people believe cooperation should be the top priority rather than competing with each other. I strongly believe competition is a good approach and should be used at various sectors.
First of all, competition forces a person to use his or her maximum potential. For the sake of victory or acheiving something where many persons take part, you have to use all your abilities and efforts to defeat them. So for this purpose, you prepare yourself and seriously works on your weeknesses. For intance, at schools many students compete with each other for getting first rank. They pay attention to their studies through out the year because they know, if they do not work hard, they will not get good grades.
Another interesting point is that competition helps you getting promotions at their workplaces and differentiates you from underperforming employees. Big organizations evaluate their workforce by a number a ways. They arrange special type of questionnaire or monthly activities. On the basis of which, they obtain points and by the end of the year, companies reward the best scorer and offers rewards and other incentives. Sometime on the basis of these scores, they promote them. So competition provides such an amazing atmosphere in the workplace that every employee wants to work actively.
On the other hand, some people argue that cooperation has more benefits like you learn vital skills like leadership, team collaboration and many more. These skills are important in some ways like in sports, as a team you have to work with each other to get a victory. However, it adds not enough value at other sectors because in this modern era, everyone want a competition and grow faster.
In conclusion, although cooperation has some advantages, but the value that competion brings on the table must not be overlooked. From my prespective, people love to compete with each other in a healthy way and also in the future they are likely to participate more in activities that will have competition element.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you favour competition, and you discuss both competition and cooperation. The school example explains how competition can encourage sustained effort, while the workplace paragraph gives a relevant account of how performance may be rewarded. However, the two sides are not developed equally. Cooperation is mainly described through teamwork and sports, then dismissed as adding “not enough value” in other sectors without explaining when collaboration is essential or why it may be less beneficial overall. Some claims, such as “everyone want a competition,” are also too broad. To strengthen the response, develop the opposing view more fully and qualify your opinion with a reasoned comparison of when competition and cooperation work best.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the benefits of competition and cooperation, and a conclusion that restates your position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Another interesting point,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the discussion, and the examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. At times, however, connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “On the basis of which” is a sentence fragment, and “However” does not clearly show the relationship between the benefits of teamwork and your claim about competition. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and ensure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to discuss the issue, including “maximum potential,” “underperforming employees,” “incentives,” and “leadership.” These choices show an attempt to use more specific language, but several word-choice and collocation errors make the expression less natural: “helps you getting promotions,” “a number a ways,” and “brings on the table.” Spelling errors such as “acheiving,” “weeknesses,” “intance,” and “prespective” are also noticeable. Some phrases are vague or overgeneralised, including “such an amazing atmosphere” and “everyone want a competition.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common word partnerships, and choose more precise terms when describing workplace evaluation and the benefits of cooperation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional reasoning (“if they do not work hard, they will not get good grades”) and a concession in the conclusion. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “seriously works,” “everyone want,” and “companies reward … and offers.” There are also problems with sentence construction: “On the basis of which, they obtain points” is a fragment, while “although cooperation has some advantages, but…” uses two contrasting structures together. Review agreement, clause boundaries, and how to form subordinate clauses. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make your reasoning easier to follow.
