Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals believe that competition plays a very important role in daily lives of person especially in the workplace and educational institutions. However, others argue that cooperation is more beneficial than competing with each other. This essay will discuss both the perspectives before explaining why I agree with the latter statement.
To begin with, competition can motivate people to acheive goals by influencing from others efforts and discipline. As if person wants to acheive something desparately and watching other person acheiving the same will help them to adopt their skills required for the task. For example, children do what they see as in school one student gets good marks it encourage other student to put efforts and maintain discipline to acheive the similiar targets. Therefore, healthy competition can encourage people to imrove their performance.
In contrast, cooperation is another area by which a person can acheive targets with the help of people in surroundings. If people works in the group of people it will not only help them to gain important skills such as punctuality, communication, discipline but also helps to adopt good habits from other persons. People can discuss the challenges they had to face during tasks, can get help from others for accomplishment, which can only be done by maintaining a cooperative environment.
In my point of view I strongly believe that cooperation is more beneficial for the achievement of targets as group of persons help each other to make a decision and it also helps to make harmonious environment which is necessary in every place.
To conclude, both the viewpoints are valid to a certain extent. So, we cannot favor or oppose any of the one side. But I still think that cooperation is much important than competition in an environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for cooperation, particularly in the introduction and the paragraph beginning “In my point of view.” The examples about students responding to a classmate’s results and people sharing challenges are relevant. However, the two views are not developed equally: the benefits of competition are mainly illustrated through school performance, while the cooperation paragraph lists skills and advantages without explaining a specific outcome in much depth. Your conclusion also says that we “cannot favor or oppose any” side, which weakens the otherwise clear opinion that cooperation is more beneficial. Develop each argument with a fuller explanation and make the final position consistent with your stated preference.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, a statement of your opinion, and a conclusion. Transitions such as “To begin with,” “In contrast,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress logically. This meets the lower-band expectations securely and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, the opinion paragraph repeats the cooperation argument rather than extending it, and the conclusion’s claim that neither side can be favoured conflicts with your stated preference. Some linking is also formulaic, while references such as “the latter statement” require readers to look back. Use transitions more selectively and ensure each paragraph has a distinct role and a consistent line of argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “discipline,” “communication,” and “harmonious environment.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less natural. Examples include “influencing from others efforts,” “group of people,” and “achievement of targets”; these phrases do not express the intended ideas idiomatically. There are also repeated misspellings, such as “acheive,” “desparately,” and “similiar.” These issues can slow the reader, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing motivation, teamwork, and outcomes, and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional structures such as “If people works in the group…” and a relative clause in “which is necessary in every place.” The overall meaning is usually clear, but some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “If people works” should use a plural verb, while “As if person wants…” is an incomplete and awkwardly connected construction. In “one student gets good marks it encourage other student,” the clauses need clearer punctuation and the verb and noun forms need correction. These errors do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy. Practise building complete complex sentences and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and clause boundaries.
