Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this essay we will discuss about that competition at wok place is a good thing. But other believe that we should try to cooperate more, instead than competing against each other. I believe that cooperation is more important than competition.

In the one hand, ambition plays a vital role in eveyone life, and feel them motivated. If they fell motivated then people take another step towards their goal, however they also become efficient. For example, in the class their are competition between two students for higher grades. they just want to become more active in class more than other student. As a result student do more hardwork to improve their performance.

In the other hand, cooperation is also important as competition. It not just give us satisfaction but aslo help us to think out of the box, whereas it relly helpful to reduce stress level. For example, a group of students do a project work related to something. So they just break the work in parts, and distribute the work according to their efficiency. The research has shown that with the help of this they recduce their stress and focus more on their work.

In the conclusion, i strongly believe that cooperation is more important than competition. But sometime competition is aslo benificial for work improvement. Furthermore, both are significant in their place, it is difficult to choose particualar one. In my openion, i go with cooperation instead of competition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear opinion that cooperation is more important, and you discuss both sides with relevant examples: competition may encourage students to work harder, while sharing project tasks can reduce stress. However, the discussion is only partially developed. The benefits of competition are mainly illustrated through one classroom example, and the cooperation paragraph makes broad claims without explaining them in depth. Your conclusion also says it is “difficult to choose” after stating a preference, which makes your position less consistent. The response is 233 words, so it is 17 words below the 250-word minimum; the 8 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop each reason further and maintain a clear, consistent position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the main points. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases are repetitive or awkward. “In the one hand” and “In the other hand” do not form accurate parallel transitions, while “however” and “whereas” sometimes connect ideas without a clear logical relationship. The conclusion repeats the opinion but also introduces uncertainty. To improve, organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then give a directly connected example. Use a smaller range of accurate transitions and make references such as “this” or “they” clearly identify the idea or people meant.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “ambition,” “motivated,” “performance,” “cooperation,” and “reduce stress.” These choices communicate the general ideas, but the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “competition at wok place,” “do more hardwork,” “think out of the box,” and “benificial.” Some phrases are repeated, particularly “competition” and “cooperation,” rather than being paraphrased. Build a more precise set of expressions for describing workplace and classroom outcomes, and check spelling carefully. More natural collocations would help you express your ideas clearly and avoid awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, for example, “If they fell motivated then people take another step towards their goal,” and you use clauses beginning with “however” and “whereas.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation can make the reader pause. In “In the class their are competition,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence needs an article and clearer structure. “It not just give us satisfaction but aslo help” also has problems with subject–verb agreement and parallel verb forms. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a supporting clause, then check verb forms, singular/plural agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
