Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world people often compete in their daily life. Some people believe that it is a valuable practice for everyone in any field of life wheather in school or in workplace. While others thinks we should cooperate with each other instead of competing against each other. This essay will discuss both views and i explain why competing and cooperate is useful.

On the one hand competition benefits people for their growth and for better job opportunities. Competing with others gives you motivation and more focus to your work. For example students who compete with their classmates they work more hard for getting better result and higher grades than other. Similarly competition between employees can encourage them to work with more dedication and achieve their targets fastly. Secondly compitition can help people to discover their abilities and people try to perform better than others can increase their confidence level and productivity.

On the other hand cooperation is also very important in some situations. When people work together they share their experiences and knowledge which is very useful in some difficult tasks. For instance, in workplace, a team can manage difficult task by dividing their work according to everyone's specialities. Working with cooperation can also built healthy relationships and good environment for employees rather than working in a toxic site.

In my opinion, people should work with cooperation which has many benefits like sharing knowledge and experience with new employees can minimize your work and increase respect for everyone.

To conclude that sometimes competition benefits you in many ways like it gives people motivation and boost their confidence but cooperation is also very important for our professional life. In working place people have to cooperate with each others for their work and it creates peaceful and friendly environment for employees to work.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the question and gives a personal view: competition is linked to motivation and achievement, while cooperation is associated with sharing knowledge and teamwork. The examples about students and employees are relevant, and the conclusion returns to the value of cooperation. However, the opinion is not fully consistent: the introduction says both approaches are useful, whereas the later opinion favours cooperation, without explaining how the two should be balanced. Some points are also asserted rather than developed—for example, competition supposedly improves confidence and productivity, but the process or a specific illustration is not explained. Clarify your position early and extend each main reason with a consequence or a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, a stated opinion, and a conclusion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes mechanical, particularly with “Secondly,” and the final paragraph largely repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together. Some references are also unclear: “which has many benefits” does not specify whether it refers to cooperation or working together, and “your work” shifts from the general discussion to direct address. Use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports; a conclusion that explains how cooperation and competition can coexist would create stronger progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for discussing the topic, and phrases such as “motivation,” “dedication,” “dividing their work,” and “healthy relationships” communicate relevant ideas. There are also attempts at more specific language, including “productivity” and “specialities.” However, spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “wheather,” “compitition,” and “fastly” are inaccurate, while “toxic site” is not a natural expression for a workplace. Some wording is repetitive, especially repeated forms of “work,” “people,” and “competition.” Build a more precise range of collocations—for example, “meet targets promptly” and “a supportive working environment”—and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a contrast clause beginning “While others…” and a relative clause in “students who compete with their classmates.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “others thinks,” the incorrect infinitive pattern in “i explain why competing and cooperate is useful,” and “can also built,” where the verb form should follow “can.” There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries, as in “manage difficult task” and the comma splice in “In my opinion, people should work with cooperation which has many benefits…” Practise checking agreement and verb forms, and separate or restructure sentences when one clause is not grammatically joined to the next.
