Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued by some that the it is a good thing to compete against each other at job, at school and in everyday life. However, it is beleived by others that it is better to cooperate rather than compete against each other. From my perspective, although competition is a good thing for growth and to become best in your field but cooperation is a better appraoch overall.
On the one hand, competition in different places in life helps an individual to bring the best out of him. People exceed their limits just to prove the point that they are better than others. They will even burn the midnight oils to compete with others. For instance, Football legends, Messi and and Ronaldo had a competition for over two decades which helped them to get the best out of them. As a result, a section of society believes that competing against one another is a positive approach.
On the other hand, cooperating with other will improve the relation between humans and will make society better as a whole. When people compete, naturally a sense of jelousy will develop between them and it effects the society in a very drastic way in long term. This jelousy toward others results in absolute destruction and break the bond even between siblings. However, cooperating ameliorates the brotherhood between them. It will make the whole community strong rather than just one person succeeding. For example, in 2022 Fifa world cup final, the overall strenghth of Argentine team was way less than France's team, but thay succeeded because of cooperating and playing for each other.
In conclusion, I believe although both of the approaches have their own pros and cons but cooperating with each other is a better one because it will remove the sense of jelousy toward others and getting upset by others acheivments rather it will develop an atmosphere of helping others.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and state a consistent preference for cooperation, so the response covers the task and gives a relevant position. The competition paragraph explains how rivalry can motivate people to exceed their limits, supported by the Messi–Ronaldo example. The cooperation paragraph also gives a relevant argument about stronger relationships and collective success, with the Argentina example. This is a solid response, but some points are asserted more than explained: for instance, the claim that jealousy causes “absolute destruction” is broad, and the football examples could be linked more explicitly to the wider contexts of work and school. Develop these implications and qualify generalisations to make the reasoning more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall progression: an introduction presents both positions and your view, two body paragraphs discuss each side, and the conclusion restates your preference. “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the structure easy to follow, while examples are placed with the relevant arguments. This organisation is effective, though some connections are mechanical or imprecise. In the cooperation paragraph, “However” does not clearly signal the relationship between the preceding criticism of competition and the benefit of cooperation; a more explicit link would help. The final sentence also combines several ideas without clearly separating cause and result. Use cohesive devices selectively and make references such as “them” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to discuss the topic and attempt some less common expressions, including “exceed their limits,” “ameliorates,” and “overall.” However, noticeable spelling, word-choice, and collocation problems limit precision. Examples include “beleived,” “appraoch,” “jelousy,” and “strenghth,” as well as the unnatural phrase “burn the midnight oils.” “Improve the relation” and “remove the sense of jealousy” are understandable but not idiomatic in these contexts. These errors generally do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they make the writing less fluent and occasionally obscure the intended meaning. Prioritise accurate spelling and natural word partnerships, and use ambitious vocabulary only when you are confident of its meaning and form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in the introduction and conditional phrasing such as “When people compete…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some sentence-level errors recur. The opening has an unnecessary “the” in “that the it is,” and “although competition is a good thing… but cooperation…” incorrectly combines two contrast structures. There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “cooperating with other will improve” and “this jealousy… results… and break the bond.” The final sentence is difficult to control because several clauses are joined without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking articles, agreement, and parallel verb forms, then proofread punctuation and clause connections.
