Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for cooperation in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of competition is relevant, with examples from school, work and personal goals; the point that competition can encourage responsibility is also useful. Your cooperation paragraph gives relevant benefits, such as sharing skills and reducing stress. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained: the example about pupils “luminous the name of their school” does not clearly show how cooperation helps, and the company example is difficult to interpret. To strengthen the response, explain the cause-and-effect link in each example and develop why cooperation is more beneficial overall, rather than mainly restating that it is essential.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and examples generally sit with the relevant argument. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. “Similaraly” introduces a related point, but the sentence that follows is grammatically difficult to track, while “For example” leads into examples whose meaning is unclear. The conclusion also repeats the position without drawing together the main comparison. To move further, make links between claims and evidence more explicit, use referencing carefully, and ensure each example clearly supports the point immediately before it.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “outperform,” “common goal,” “productive,” and “responsibility,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “Other admire,” “higher grader,” “luminous the name,” “solve obstacle,” and “stand tall on the shoulder.” Several forms are also misspelled, such as “becuase,” “potiental,” and “sucessful.” These issues limit the precision of the argument even when the intended idea can be inferred. Focus on accurate, natural combinations such as “achieve higher grades,” “solve problems,” and “enhance the school’s reputation,” and proofread spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “when,” “because,” and “which,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Some sentence patterns are controlled, such as “cooperation can also build stronger relationship and reduce unnecessary stress.” However, there are some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “in the workplace can encourges employee” lacks a clear subject and has an incorrect verb form, while “competition can encourages” also has faulty agreement. The sentence beginning “Similaraly, in the workplace” is difficult to parse because its clauses are not joined correctly. Work on building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement, articles and plural forms.
