Student answer (Band 5.5)
While some people believe that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a nice thing. Other think that we should try to cooperate more, instead competing against each other. This essay will discuss these view before arguing that which is more more important.
On the one hand, competition plays a vital role in everyone life. they argue that it helps people to become hardworking and be motivated. For example, in many countries, like India and Pakstan, children at school like to have competition between them for higher grades. If the ambition is high, they automatically feel encouraged and do more hard work. From this point of view, it seemes fair that to have rivals is important.
On the other hand, cooperation at work, at school and in daily life is a good for their development. they believe that team work is necessary for our life, however help us to think out of the box. The research has shown that, although team work not just gave us satisfaction, it reduce our stress level.
In my opinion, both unity and competition is significant for our daily life, and both help us for our improvements. Some times to become determined is teach us many new lessons. But i strongly believe that team work is more inportant than then competition because to won with our team feel more happy to won alone.
In conclusion, different people feel different about cooperation and competition. Coopeartion reduce our stress and give us satisfaction, competition help us to become motivated and hardworking. I firmly believe that cooperation is more benificial than competition.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss both competition and cooperation and give a clear preference for cooperation, especially in the final paragraph. The examples about students seeking higher grades and teamwork reducing stress are relevant, but the explanations remain brief: the link between rivalry and achievement, for instance, is asserted rather than explored. The opening says you will argue which is “more important,” but the position is not fully clear until later, and the response does not develop the implications of either view in much detail. The response is 244 words, so it is six words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main point with a specific example and a fuller explanation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, your opinion, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow this structure. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “however help us to think out of the box” does not clearly show how the ideas relate, and “both help us for our improvements” is difficult to follow. The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together. To strengthen progression, make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit, and use pronouns and linking words only when their references are clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “team work,” “motivated,” and “stress level,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more expressive phrases, such as “think out of the box.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural: “a nice thing,” “do more hard work,” “more happy,” and “inportant” are examples. Some key terms are repeated without much variation. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and natural combinations of words; for example, use “work harder” rather than “do more hard work.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “If the ambition is high…” and a contrast clause beginning “although.” However, complex attempts are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout. Examples include “Other think,” “it seemes fair that to have rivals,” “team work not just gave us satisfaction,” and “both unity and competition is significant.” Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, as in the lowercase “they” and “i.” These errors sometimes make the intended relationships harder to understand. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a correctly formed subordinate clause, then check subject–verb agreement and verb tense.
