Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era many people argue that competing with colleague at workplace, in academic centre with other student and in our day-to-day life with others people is a beneficial. While others believe that working as a team is better approach instead of competing with each other. I believe that healthy competition is necessary for personal growth. This essay will discuss both the views and opinion in following paragraphs.
To begin with, competing with each in offices, school and in daily life routine is beneficial because it shows us where actually we are standing. In other words it is type of self-realisation about the our growth. For instance, in school there are two student one is getting 95% and other one getting 75%, a student with 75% will know that he have to work more for his future or to come at same level of the student with 85%. Moreover, it will helps in personal growth as someone is competing with anyone eventually they will give there best to that work that helps them for there personal growth.
On other hand people believing that helping each other is better than competing because by helping each may reduce the time of that work. For example two person doing same work by taking each others help it will take less time solve that problem instead of focusing on competition. Further more, by co-operating each also opens a new ideas to any problem. For instance, there is any bug in software if only one personal have limited ideas, but if team of people will work together the same problem have multiple solutions.
Overall, competition at work, at school and in daily is also a important for personal growth but we also have to not forget about the team spirit or working with each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear view: “healthy competition is necessary for personal growth.” The examples about students’ marks and a software team are relevant and help explain the benefits of competition and cooperation. However, the two positions are not developed equally: the competition paragraph explains personal growth, while the cooperation paragraph makes several claims about saving time and generating ideas without fully exploring their wider value. The opening also promises to discuss the views but does not preview your reasoning. To strengthen the response, explain the conditions under which competition is healthy and show more clearly how cooperation can complement it. The response meets the required length; eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a concluding summary. The progression from competition to cooperation is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “On other hand,” and “Overall” help guide the reader. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, several transitions feel formulaic, and connections within sentences are sometimes unclear—for example, “by helping each may reduce the time of that work.” The conclusion repeats the main points rather than drawing them together into a more precise final position. Use clearer referencing and vary linking methods, while making each example’s connection to its paragraph’s main claim explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “personal growth,” “self-realisation,” “co-operating,” and “multiple solutions.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic language. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make the writing less precise, such as “competing with colleague,” “academic centre,” and “opens a new ideas.” Repetition of “personal growth,” “work,” and “competing” also restricts flexibility. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check word forms and plural forms when editing. More precise terms for workplace and educational settings would help you express the argument naturally without changing its meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example (“if only one personal have limited ideas”) and clauses introduced by “because” and “while.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but control is uneven: some complex sentences are faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms recur. Examples include “a student with 75% will know that he have to work more,” “it will helps,” and “a important.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation also need attention, particularly in the long opening sentence. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, then review articles and singular/plural forms. Building accuracy in these patterns will make your varied sentence attempts easier to follow.
