Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both sides of the question and give a preference for cooperation, so the response addresses the main parts of the task. The competition paragraph offers relevant reasons—motivation and improved performance—and the student example helps illustrate these. The cooperation paragraph also mentions shared problem-solving and learning from colleagues. However, several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that cooperation helps people fulfil ambitions is not developed with a specific reason or example, and the conclusion does not clearly restate your own view. The position is present but could be clearer and more consistently supported. Develop each main idea with a fuller explanation and make your opinion explicit in both the introduction and conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, an opinion paragraph and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow. You use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” to show relationships between ideas. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. In the conclusion, “but help us to learn knowledge, and skills” does not clearly identify what “help” refers to, and the final sentence does not fully connect back to your stated preference for cooperation. Some ideas within paragraphs also run together. Use clearer referencing and make each paragraph progress from a main point to explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a range of relevant topic vocabulary, including “competition,” “cooperation,” “performance,” “mutual understanding” and “productivity.” These choices allow you to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “built great camaredie,” “get knowlege,” “with the helper, their colleagues” and “friendly environment.” Spelling errors such as “competion,” “acheive” and “acadamic” are also noticeable. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; for instance, use “build camaraderie,” “gain knowledge” and “with the help of colleagues.” More precise vocabulary would make your arguments clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures such as “If they work together…” and “so that they can…”. However, control is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “competition help to motivate people” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “they can friendly environment” is missing a necessary verb and has an incomplete structure. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “Because they are facinated…” and the frequent separation of spaces before punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement, articles and punctuation. Accurate simple sentences should come before adding more complex structures.
