Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You introduce the topic and attempt to discuss competition, giving examples involving children’s sports and students who attend extra classes for difficult subjects. However, the response stops at “On the other hand,” so the view in favour of cooperation is not explained, and your own opinion is not clearly stated. The examples mainly show that competition can encourage effort, but their relevance and implications are not fully developed. The response is also 164 words, which is 86 words below the required minimum; this leaves too little space to address all parts of the task. To improve, complete both sides of the discussion, state your position directly, and explain each example in relation to that position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is an identifiable opening followed by a paragraph about competition, and phrases such as “First of all,” “Moreover,” and “For example” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is difficult to follow because several points are repeated or loosely connected, such as the claims about daily life being challenging and requiring hard work. The second viewpoint is introduced but not developed: the response ends with “On the other hand,” leaving the structure incomplete. Some references, including “It” and “They,” do not make clear which idea or people they refer to. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “challenging,” “participate,” “sustainable mind and body,” and “public health,” showing an attempt to go beyond very basic wording. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unnatural combinations often make the meaning unclear, as in “comeptition,” “convienent about daily routain,” and “put more effort form works.” Some expressions are also vague or unsuitable for the intended meaning, such as “better thing” and “daily basic.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe competition as “a positive influence” and say that it “encourages people to make greater efforts,” rather than relying on unclear phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response includes some simple sentences and attempts to link ideas with clauses, for example, “For example some students week science and math subject because it is very difficult course.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and errors with agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms make several sentences hard to understand. Examples include “competition are fundamental,” “It can learn new activities,” and “students attend extra classess daily and improved.” The opening also contains an incomplete construction in “I discuss both these views and give you own opinion.” Practise building clear subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with accurate verb forms. Proofread for agreement and sentence completeness.
