Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You refer to both sides of the question and give a preference for cooperation, noting that competition can cause stress while cooperation can build relationships and peace. However, the discussion is brief and the reasons are not developed with a clear, specific example; the point that competition can motivate people is only touched on in “if we don't take anything personal and motivated.” Your position is also difficult to follow because the opening says both views have merits, while the conclusion gives only a short preference. The response is 242 words, eight words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each view with a clear explanation and a relevant example, then state your opinion consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, discussion and conclusion, and phrases such as “Although both views” and “As a result” signal relationships between ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the main discussion is placed in long, loosely connected sections, and some links are unclear or inaccurate. For example, “And another view believing in try to cooperate” does not clearly introduce a complete idea, while the sentence beginning “and moreover” combines several points without showing how they relate. The conclusion is very brief and does not clearly summarise the discussion. Use separate paragraphs for each view, build one point at a time, and connect sentences with clear references and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “stressed,” “motivated,” and “relationships.” These choices make the general subject understandable. However, the range is basic and several inaccurate word choices or forms make meaning less clear, such as “corporate” for “cooperate,” “prons and cons,” “presser,” and “positiveness.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “built relationships on peoples” and “lead a life peacefully, stressfully.” Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and natural collocations rather than repeating broad words such as “good,” “problems,” and “view.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would also make your ideas easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and use clauses with “because” and “if,” showing an effort to express reasons and conditions. However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately joined, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. For example, “Although both views are valid points and having their own prons and cons” is not a complete sentence, and “Because of competiting in every field human has face” has problems with clause structure and verb form. There are also recurring issues with articles, plurals, agreement and punctuation, as in “every others” and the run-on sentence beginning “And another view.” Practise writing complete simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence’s subject and verb.
