Student answer (Band 5.0)

People have their own opinions and practices, competition at workplace, school, and in daily life often varrys person to person, some people thinks its more complex while other feels more energetic in competing.

Competition is not a bad thing, through competing, we get alot of exposure whereas it benefits us to get progress in life, on the other hand some people are introvert so they afraid of facing different situations and remarks coming from the second person while competing, so it does not work in every situation.

Competition strengthen us to become more confident in life whereas, it boost us to do fearless decisions in life, for instance i do share my experience of educational career, in school I was so inconfident person, i do lack of speaking in class as well as stage fright so i decided to talk in mirror first after all i decided to take part in speaking debate competition and that was the turning point of my confidence building, so competition at workplace, daily life gives a new path and direction whereas makes life more meaningful by knowing other, getting experiences and gets to know how to handle pressure in crucial moment.

Futhermore, some people lacks in facing scoiety's talking, they are FOPO, they are linked with social anxiety disorders, they don't want to face different opinions of community, so these kind of people loves to work solo without any competition and they love to live in their own bubble of thoughts so we should respect their behaviour and try not to make them feel bad.

In my prospective healthy competition at various places is a good thing and I strongly supports this opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear preference for healthy competition, and your school debate experience is relevant support for the benefits you describe. However, the task asks you to discuss both competition and cooperation, and cooperation is not meaningfully explained: the paragraph about people who prefer to work alone focuses on social anxiety rather than the value of cooperating. Several claims, such as competition making life “more meaningful,” are asserted without enough explanation. To strengthen the response, explain how cooperation helps people achieve shared goals, perhaps with a workplace or classroom example, then compare its benefits with competition and maintain your opinion throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has paragraphs that broadly separate an introduction, benefits, a personal example, an opposing perspective, and your opinion. This gives it some organisation, and phrases such as “on the other hand” and “Furthermore” signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the second paragraph shifts from the benefits of competition to introversion, while the next returns to benefits before the discussion of people who prefer working alone. Long sentences joined by “whereas” and “so” make relationships between points difficult to follow, and some references, such as “they” in the final body paragraph, are not fully clear. Give each paragraph one main purpose and use shorter sentences with more precise links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “competition,” “exposure,” “social anxiety,” and “handle pressure,” and your personal example communicates the general idea. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning harder to understand. For example, “inconfident person” is not a natural expression, “fearless decisions” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “society’s talking” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “varrys,” “alot,” and “Futhermore” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations; for instance, describe gaining confidence or learning to perform under pressure.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a personal example with several connected events, but complex sentences are often difficult to control. Agreement errors occur in “some people thinks,” “Competition strengthen us,” and “it boost us.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation: the opening is a comma splice, and the long sentence beginning “for instance i do share my experience” runs through several ideas without clear separation. Articles and verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “i do lack of speaking.” Use a reliable subject–verb pattern, separate complete ideas with full stops, and practise combining clauses with accurate conjunctions. These recurring errors sometimes make the reader work to interpret your meaning.
