Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, half of people have their own pont of view that competition at employment ,at school and in daily life is a better things to do.Other believe that we should try to do work in a group or in a cooperate more, rather than focusing and competing with one person to another person. In my opinion participating in competition of extra curriculam activitites such as at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing because it make us creative and extra person.

On the one hand, competion in daily life is a good thing for self worth.People get the achievement when they try to compete with each other or they got high score on their performance and also feel motivated rather than demotivated. For example,Korea is the country which has a lot of competion between the citizen also this country is the developed country.

On the other hand, individual belive that we should try to cooperete more rathe than competing each other.Misunderstanding and conflict is created when people try to cooperate and support each other.Delay in decision making is the major problem while trying to cooperate more and ignere the competitor.

In my opinion, people should be more competative with extra skills for the highest increase in human resource. We should rarely try to cooperate that is better for self imrovement.Citizens have their own choice whatever they want to choose this is only my pont of view.

In conclusion,People focused at competion in daily life thing and also belive that they should try to cooperate than competing .People get motivated when they compete with each other and misscunderstaning and conflict happen when both people thought is not matching.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a preference for competition, with relevant points about motivation and self-improvement. However, the response only partially develops the task: the benefits of cooperation are not explained clearly, and the claim that cooperation creates “misunderstanding and conflict” is unsupported and difficult to follow. The Korea example is also too general to show how competition benefits people. Your position becomes less clear when you say people should “rarely try to cooperate,” without explaining when cooperation is still useful. The response meets the stated length requirement; the 20 words copied from the prompt are excluded from the authoritative count. To strengthen your answer, explain both views with specific reasoning and examples, then maintain a clear, qualified opinion throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs beginning “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” an opinion paragraph, and a conclusion. These signposts help readers identify the two views. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and several connections between ideas are unclear. For example, “Misunderstanding and conflict is created when people try to cooperate” does not clearly explain why cooperation would cause these problems, while the following point about delayed decisions is not linked to it. The conclusion largely repeats earlier claims rather than bringing the discussion together. Develop each paragraph around one clear point, explain how the supporting sentence follows from it, and use referencing and linking phrases accurately rather than relying mainly on formulaic transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “achievement,” “motivated,” “decision making,” and “self improvement.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “pont of view,” “competion,” “cooperete,” and “extra person”; the last phrase does not express a clear meaning in this context. Phrases such as “competition at employment” and “highest increase in human resource” are also unnatural. These issues fit a limited but minimally adequate range, with errors that sometimes impede communication. Build a reliable set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations; for example, use “competition in the workplace” and “develop our skills”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You use some simple and compound sentence forms, and the response is generally recognisable as a discussion. However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain frequent grammatical errors that can make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “People get the achievement when they try to compete … or they got high score” shifts tense and has problems with articles and sentence structure. In “Misunderstanding and conflict is created,” the subject and verb do not agree, and “when both people thought is not matching” is not a well-formed clause. Commas are also often missing after introductory phrases, as in “On the one hand, competition…”. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, tense consistency, and complete clause structures before adding more complex sentences.
