Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that competition between collegues, students and in everyday life has an advantages. While other assume that we should collaborate with each other rather than competing with one another. In my opinion, although competition can motivate people, but cooperation is more important in long-term success.
Competition can encourage people to work hard and improve their ability. At schools, students may study more effectively when they competing with other students to achieve higher score. Similarly, at workplace emplooyes try to work hard and improve their productivity in order to get promotion or incentives. Competition also allow people to identify their weknesses and develop new skills. For example, Apple and Samsung try to compete with each other to provide better product, which benefits their customers.
On the other hand, cooperation allow people to share their knowledge with each other and acheive their goals. In schools, students who study together can understand difficult subjects more easily. Likewise, in organizations, emplooyes can complete difficult projects easily when they share their responsibilties and ideas with each other. Cooperation also create positive enviroment and resduces stress. For instance, in hospitals, doctors, nurses and other staff member must cooperate with each other to provide better treatment to there patients.
In conclusion, both competition and cooperation have their advantages. Competiton can help people to work hard but I believe cooperation should give more importance because it promotes teamwork and help to achieve long-term goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear view: competition can motivate people, but cooperation matters more for long-term success. Relevant examples from schools, workplaces, technology companies and hospitals help illustrate your points. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, you mention that competition reveals weaknesses and develops skills, but do not explain how this happens or give a supporting example. The cooperation paragraph is somewhat more developed, with examples of shared study and hospital teamwork. The conclusion restates your position but could explain more precisely why cooperation is more important. The response is also 11 words below the required minimum, so add a little relevant explanation or support.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the other hand,” “Similarly,” and “In conclusion” help readers recognise the relationship between ideas. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in organising examples within each paragraph. To make the flow more consistently smooth, vary the linking patterns and make connections between claims and examples more explicit. For instance, the Apple and Samsung example follows the point about developing skills, but the link between competition and customers receiving better products could be explained more directly. The repeated use of “cooperation” and “each other” also makes some transitions feel mechanical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “productivity,” “incentives,” “responsibilities,” “teamwork,” and “long-term goals.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and examples such as “share their knowledge” and “achieve higher score” show attempts to express specific outcomes. However, the range is limited in places, and several spelling errors are noticeable, including “collegues,” “emplooyes,” “weknesses,” and “enviroment.” There are also inaccurate word forms or collocations, such as “has an advantages” and “provide better product.” Check spelling carefully and build a wider set of precise phrases for describing competition and collaboration. This would make the argument more fluent and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction and clauses beginning with “when” and “in order to.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “when they competing” needs a finite verb (“when they compete”), while “Competition also allow” and “Cooperation also create” require subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence also has a faulty construction: “While other assume…” is a fragment, and “although … but” uses two contrasting markers together. Articles and plurals need attention in phrases such as “higher score” and “better product.” Practise checking each sentence for a complete clause, correct verb form and agreement; this will improve accuracy while preserving your attempts at varied structures.
