Student answer (Band 6.0)

Today, many people diagree about whether to compete and work together at school or work. Some people think that competition makes the people successful. While others thinks that coperation best way to things to be done. In my opinion, competition makes the people push toward the success and motivated. Whereas coperation makes the people work together which is necessary for living happier in the society.

On the one hand, the competition makes people compete with others and work hard to achieve the goal. It makes the student or working proffesional to study more and to think new ideas. It improves the individual critical thinking and problem soving abilities. For example, the global companies compete with each other in market to improve the quality of the product like smartphones. It is good for the consumers. On the personal level trying to win the helps people find their strength and become stronger. If the competition is not their people will become lazy and stop trying to improve.

On the other hand, working together can improves and built better relation and less stress. A life is only that only about the competion it makes the person anxious and lonely. However, it makes them to feel everyone else as an enemy. In contrast, working together teaches the team work and helps to know the sharing and laerning new ideas.Consequently, important goals like diseases and protecting the environment, cannot be done by the single person alone. They require nations and scientist as a team to work.

In conclusion, competition makes the individual successful and work harder. but too much of it can hurt our friendship .Whereas the coperation makes the person learn sharing , team work and built friendly and supportive world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and give a clear overall view: competition can motivate people, while cooperation supports relationships and shared progress. The examples about smartphone companies and collective efforts to tackle disease and protect the environment are relevant and help illustrate the two positions. This meets the task well, though some points are more fully explained than others. For instance, you explain how competition may improve products, but the claim that it helps people discover their strengths is not developed with a specific explanation or example. Your conclusion restates your position, but could make the balance between competition and cooperation more precise. Extending the less-developed points would make the discussion more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. The progression from individual motivation to cooperation on shared challenges is logical, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion. However, some links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Whereas cooperation makes…” is left as a fragment after the preceding sentence, and “However” does not clearly show the relationship between the ideas around it. Some sentences within the cooperation paragraph also run together. Use linking words only when their relationship is clear, and connect each example directly to the point it supports to make the flow smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “critical thinking,” “problem-solving abilities,” “consumers,” and “team work.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “diagree,” “coperation,” “proffesional,” and “laerning”; repeated use of “makes” also leads to awkward phrases such as “makes the people push toward the success.” Some expressions, including “a life is only that only about the competition,” are difficult to interpret. Build a wider set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and natural word combinations. More precise vocabulary would help express your ideas without changing their meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including conditional and relative clauses: “If the competition is not their…” and “goals like diseases and protecting the environment, cannot be done…” This shows an effort to vary sentence structure, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “Some people think… While others thinks…” creates a sentence fragment and an agreement error; “working together can improves” has an incorrect verb form; and “competition makes the individual successful and work harder” does not maintain a parallel structure. Articles, plurals, and punctuation also need attention, as in “the student” when speaking generally and the comma before “cannot” in the final example. Practise checking complete sentences, subject–verb agreement, and verb forms.
