Student answer (Band 5.5)
Several individuals think that competition at work, at school or in daily life is a positive aspect. But, some people argue that we should make sure to cooperate more, instead of competing against each other. Both options are valuable. Because, by competition, people may develop the ability of problem solving and become more confident. While, by cooperating them, make people helpful and aslo become more supportive for one another.
Firstly, people who say that the competition is vital at work, study and in daily life are know that the working hard in very important. Because, it make people creative, hardworking and problem solving. For example, as they participate in any type of competition, they get an opportunity to express their thoughts. A person gives different ideas about different situation that make decisions about even difficult situations. This will prove beneficial for him in his future career and studies.
On the other side, some people argue that the cooperate is more essential than competing with others, this point of view also good. Because, it make a person more helpful and supportive for one another. Continuously, continue cooperating others because it makes good results on the society. For example, whenever, I stuck to some problems. I go to my father. He give me useful advice to face the difficulties. This method prove better for me and for my life.
In conclusion, both opinions are good in their own way. But, according to my personal opinion, I prefer to competition. Because it make people to work hard for achieving their goal. Which proves beneficial for everyone in the society and also for the country economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both sides of the question and state a preference for competition in the introduction and conclusion. Relevant points include competition encouraging creativity and hard work, and cooperation offering support; the example of asking your father for advice also illustrates cooperation. However, the discussion remains general and some reasoning is unclear. For instance, the link between taking part in competitions and making decisions in difficult situations is asserted rather than explained, while the cooperation example focuses on personal advice rather than cooperation at work or school. Your position is present, but the conclusion’s claim that competition benefits society and the economy is not supported. Develop each view with a clearer explanation and a specific example, then justify your preference more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “On the other side,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, “Because” begins several sentence fragments, while “Continuously, continue cooperating others” does not clearly connect to the preceding point. Some references are also unclear, as in “This method prove better for me and for my life.” Use complete sentences, connect each example explicitly to its main idea, and vary linking devices so the argument develops smoothly rather than relying on repeated transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “supportive,” “creative,” and “career.” There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as “problem solving” and “achieving their goal.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. Phrases such as “the cooperate is more essential,” “make good results on the society,” and “the country economy” are not natural English. Spelling errors such as “aslo” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for this topic and check word forms and spelling; for example, use “cooperation is essential” and “benefit society.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Because” and “as,” and the overall message can usually be understood. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently, particularly in sentence boundaries, verb forms, and subject–verb agreement. Examples include the fragments “Because, it make people creative” and “While, by cooperating them, make people helpful,” as well as “He give me useful advice” and “This method prove better.” The sentence beginning “A person gives different ideas…” also has an unclear clause structure. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense. Punctuation should support sentence structure rather than separating dependent clauses into fragments.
