Student answer (Band 6.0)
There always has been a debate whether there must be a strong competing environment in educational institutes and organizations while others argue that instead of competing with each other individuals must cooperate with each other. If competition doesn't succeed a safe limit it can be healthy therefore i firmly believe that there must a maintained equilibrium between cooperation and competition to keep the environment safe and healthy. This essay will discuss both points of view and demonstrate arguments for this balanced approach.
Competition among students in educational institutes develops strong urgres of performing better than their peers. For instance relative grading system in a university can be a specific example of competiton as it force indviduals to perform beyond their capabilities.Consequently it helps to upgrade the knowledge and skills of a student in a highly competitive classroom environment.Additionally it contributes the systematic approach of ranking students according to their achievement level. The similar practice can be implemented among workforce of an organization to distinguish between the high potential employees.Furthermore, competiton assists in recognition of
highly- skilled candidate for the right position. For example, in aviation industry, to become an airport manager an individual must have to clear the civil aviation exams,Subsequently, this competition brings the right candidate forward towards the sensitive role.
On the contrary competition can also have some negative impacts on the individuals either in a classroom or an organization. The major threat by negative effects of competition among people is jealousy, fear of failure and embarrassment. For instance if a person takes the competiton pesonallly and developes some personal grudges and hate for their competitor. As a result, the situation can be alarming by rising a conflict between them which leads to killings sometimes if not controlled.
According to my perspective there must be a maintained equilibrium between both competition and cooperation in formal organizations. This can be done by developing a healthy environment both in educational institutes and organizations through proper counselling of individuals. Also it can be achieved by rasing situational awareness that competition is only limitied to the assigned task, so there is no need to develop personal hate for the competitors. In this way a balanced environment of competition and cooperation can be developed to achieve the desired goals effectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both views and give a clear position: competition can be useful, but it should be balanced with cooperation. The discussion of relative grading and workplace selection is relevant, and the aviation example helps illustrate competition for a responsible role. Your explanation of possible harms—jealousy, fear of failure and conflict—also responds to the opposing view. This meets the task well overall, while some points are more fully developed than others. In particular, cooperation receives little direct discussion beyond the final paragraph, and the proposed counselling and awareness-raising measures are not explained in much detail. To strengthen the response, show more specifically how cooperation benefits learning or workplace outcomes, and develop the link between each example and your balanced position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting competition, a paragraph on its disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your balanced view. Signposting such as “For instance,” “On the contrary,” and “According to my perspective” helps readers follow the main stages. The progression is generally logical, but some connections are mechanical, and the cooperation side is not given a distinct, developed place in the body. Within paragraphs, several ideas are added in sequence without always showing how they build on one another. For example, the discussion moves from ranking students to identifying high-potential employees and then to aviation exams. Use clearer links to explain the relationship between these examples, and organise the benefits of cooperation as a developed point rather than mainly mentioning it in the conclusion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “relative grading system,” “high potential employees,” “jealousy,” and “situational awareness.” These choices show an effort to discuss education and work precisely. However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, along with awkward collocations, reduce the naturalness and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “strong urgres,” “competiton,” “takes the competition personally,” and “maintained equilibrium.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “upgrade the knowledge and skills” and “the situation can be alarming by rising a conflict.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. A more controlled range of familiar vocabulary would be more effective than using ambitious phrases that do not fit the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and cause-and-effect structures such as “If competition doesn’t succeed a safe limit…” and “As a result, the situation can be alarming…”. This gives the essay some structural variety, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, some errors in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation remain. For example, “there must a maintained equilibrium” is missing a verb form, while “a relative grading system … as it force individuals” has an agreement error. The opening sentence is also difficult to control, with several clauses joined without clear punctuation. Review sentence boundaries and check each clause for a complete verb and correct agreement. More accurate control of these structures would make your argument easier to read.
