Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is belived by some people that competiton at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. But other think that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. This can have both advantages and disadvantage in this essay. I will attempt to point out some positive and a few negative aspect of this statement and give my own opinion.

On the one hand, the merits of this is that competaions helps to increase the abality of people work and make the individuals perfect in each field of work. In my point of view without any perfect skills and knowledge each people will left behind the path of life. Although, the cooperations helps to create good relationship with everyone. I think that, the single person need more time to finished his work whereas the groups of persons assists to do the same work at a short durations. For example, last years we all had a collage tours in tea factory and there I saw the factory employee are doing the team work and each workers is supporting in their work. Therefore, the tea factory every years sales the heigest amount of produce so it listed as the top seller company of nepal. Moreover, this all is only possible by the system of workers working in the foam of cooperatives.

On the other hand, the only one drawback is that without the competation each places like school, factory, hospitals and so on will not get the skilled emloyees. Each individuals think that, we will easily get the job in any field so why should we improved our skilled. Due to such type of mentality there will be lack of quality work in each field.

In conclusion, both the statement had their own positive and negative impact. In comperasion to competation and cooperative the cooperative system have value in each sector rather that other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the discussion and give a preference for cooperation in the conclusion, so the response is relevant to the task. However, the position is not consistently clear: the introduction promises “positive and a few negative” aspects, while the body mainly presents cooperation’s benefits and competition’s drawbacks, and the conclusion’s preference is brief. The discussion of competition is especially limited, with only the claim that it encourages people to improve their skills; this idea needs explanation or a specific example. The tea-factory example supports teamwork, but its link to the wider question could be made clearer. Develop both views more evenly and state your opinion directly, then support it with reasons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signal a contrast. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from competition to cooperation and then to the factory example without a clear distinction between the two views. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, such as “Therefore” and “Moreover,” and the conclusion does not clearly draw together the main points. Improve the organisation by giving each body paragraph one main view, linking each example directly to its claim, and using clear references so readers can follow how each point supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “cooperate,” “skilled employees,” “quality work” and “team work.” However, the range is limited and errors in spelling, word form and collocation are noticeable, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “competaions,” “abality,” “emloyees,” and “in the foam of cooperatives”; the last phrase appears to mean “in the form of cooperation.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “perfect in each field of work” and “the heigest amount of produce.” Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and collocations. Prefer precise wording such as “develop their skills” and “work collaboratively.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some longer sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although” and a reason introduced by “Due to,” but control is inconsistent. Errors occur in basic sentence patterns and in attempts at complex structures: “other think” lacks subject–verb agreement, “each people will left behind” has incorrect agreement and verb form, and “the groups of persons assists” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The sentence beginning “Although, the cooperations…” is also not correctly connected to the surrounding sentence. These frequent errors can make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
