Some people think that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. Others believe that we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is an ongoing dabate wheather it is better to cooperate with your teammates, classmates and friends or to compete against each other. I personally think that cooperation can give more possitive results than competition mostly because teamwork often leads to more complex ideas and results.
On the one hand, competetive people have often more self-motivation and the urge to be the best leads them to pursue their desires more often. Consequently, goal-oriented individuals more often pursue their professional goals and targets due to their desire of being the best. For example, a significant proportion of executives in corporations are people who consequently aimed for their targets and dreams throught the years; however it would be impossible to become member of the senior management team without cooperation with you friends throughout the career.
On the other hand, due to cooperation and brainstorming sessions a lot of teams find better and more complex ideas. Internal discussions often lead to developing new points of view and becomes sucessful projects. Enormus number of projects for its completion needs well-knited teams, for instance most weddings would not be thriving parties unless well-organised weddings' planners teams; however that would not be posibble without people being cooperative. Some projects not only need huge teams but also the teams have to work like cloakwork, and in those cases cooperation is more than needed.
To sum up, althought in some cases it is better to be competetive rather than cooperative, I personally think that cooperation leads to better results.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for cooperation in the introduction and conclusion. The point that competition can motivate people to pursue professional goals is relevant, and the discussion of brainstorming explains why cooperation may produce stronger ideas. However, the two views are not developed equally: the competition paragraph focuses mainly on executives and motivation, while the cooperation paragraph relies on broad claims and an example about wedding planners that is not fully explained. The example about executives also shifts towards the need for cooperation, rather than clearly illustrating competition. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of each approach in more detail and use examples that directly support the point being made.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” makes the progression easy to follow, and the reader can identify your position. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, several connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the executive example moves from competition to the need for cooperation without explaining the relationship, and “however” is used to connect ideas that are not clearly contrasting. The wedding-planner example also interrupts the explanation of teamwork. Make each paragraph develop one central point, and use linking words only when their logical relationship is precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary suited to the topic, including “self-motivation,” “goal-oriented,” “brainstorming sessions,” and “professional goals.” These choices show some range, and the main ideas remain understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “dabate,” “wheather,” “competetive,” “sucessful,” and “Enormus” are examples. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “pursue their desires” and “cloakwork” (the intended expression is likely “clockwork”). “More complex ideas and results” is imprecise. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases; more accurate choices such as “pursue their ambitions” and “work like clockwork” would make your meaning clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “unless,” and “however,” and most of the argument is still understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “Internal discussions often lead to developing new points of view and becomes successful projects” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an unclear parallel structure. In “without cooperation with you friends,” the possessive form is incorrect, while “become member” needs an article. The long sentence beginning “For example, a significant proportion…” also joins several ideas in a way that is difficult to control. Practise checking agreement and articles, and divide sentences when they contain several separate claims.
