Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people believe a competitive workplace, academic, and social life is beneficial for individual growth, while others argue that cooperation in every sector of daily life should be the paramount approach. From my perspective, there must me a tranquility among both the census for a balance and prosperous life.

On one hand, some citizens lean towards aggressive life style where they believe that the only way to success is through beating others in their fields. Individuals who leans toward this ideology thinks that leaving other behind through contest in a particular field makes their struggles worth something. In addition, this mentality can also be supported through people's approach to life. For instance, numerous individuals thrive more efficiently only if they are in constant struggle to overcome their fellow collegues, classmates or even relatives.

On the other hand, those who stand with the point of view of cooperation belive that success can not be achieved by stepping over others. Individuals who tend towards tranquillity in their life argue for cooperation and communication in life. No one can reach the height of the life just by themselves, there must be a space for learning and communication in every aspect of life to grow as an individual and as a memeber of a society. Moverover, cooperation develop a communal psyche in which growth is only possible through learning from others and teaching others.

In conclusion, both point of view has their own reasons to argue about such as some workers can yield better in competitive environment while others in a more cooperative one. In my point of view, I believe there must be a balance in both of the ideologies such as a friendly competition can bear significant results through constant learning from others and competing at the same time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and give a clear overall view: competition can motivate people, while cooperation supports learning, and a balance is preferable. The examples of people striving to outperform colleagues, classmates, or relatives are relevant, and the point that people learn by teaching and learning from others helps explain the cooperative position. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully developed. For example, the claim that competition makes people’s struggles “worth something” is not explained, and the conclusion’s “friendly competition” could be linked more clearly to the benefits discussed in the body. Develop each main point with a specific consequence or example, and state your balanced position more precisely in the introduction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the ideas within each body paragraph generally relate to its central view. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some of the flexibility associated with stronger cohesion. At times, however, links feel formulaic, and some references are unclear: “both point of view” in the conclusion does not clearly identify the two positions, while “such as” introduces an example that is not fully specified. Use more precise transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its supporting explanation explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “competitive,” “cooperation,” “communal psyche,” and “constant struggle,” and the main ideas remain understandable. However, noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation problems limit precision: “belive,” “collegues,” and “memeber” are misspelled, while “aggressive life style” and “yield better” are not natural choices in context. Some expressions, such as “tranquillity in their life” and “height of the life,” also make the meaning less clear. Build a reliable set of natural collocations for discussing motivation, achievement, and teamwork, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer clear, accurate phrasing over ambitious expressions that do not fit the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in the opening and explanatory structures such as “only if they are in constant struggle.” Most of the argument can be followed, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Individuals who leans” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “both point of view has” needs plural agreement. The phrase “there must me a tranquility” also contains an incorrect verb form and an awkward grammatical construction; “there must be a balance” would express your meaning more accurately. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, especially in longer sentences. Greater control of these patterns would make your ideas clearer while preserving the range you are attempting.
